Monday weigh-in for 50-somethings

Quote  |  Reply

Hi all

I'm brand new here (just started yesterday.)  I've always hated weighing myself but I guess I have to see my progress (or lack thereof.)

Anyone want to be part of a 50-something Monday morning weigh-in group?  I'd love some "company".

Good luck!

Barbara

Hi Everyone...I didn't fall off the face of the earth just have had a lot going on since I logged in last time. Our 2nd son started Officer Training School after being in the Air Force 15 years...a week into the boot camp type training our daughter-in-law called...the adoption agency they were going through to adopt a baby boy had a little guy 20 months old available for adoption...if they were interested! She got to call our son but could only give him the bare essentials so we got called upon as a sounding board for her for awhile till the agency could get all the details together and she could get more info to Cory. Needless to say we now have a new grandson who has 3 big sisters to spoil him till his new "Daddy" gets to come home after graduation in December. Thankfully one of our other sons was able to go and help out for 2 weeks so I didn't have to take off work. Now we will be able to go for the graduation and meet our new grandson all at once. Everything seemed to be happening so fast that it's hard to believe it has been over 6 weeks already...wow I didn't think I was out of the loop that long! Luckily for me I didn't gain back everything I lost but it's time to get back or I will. Didn't get started on my Yoga either but will keep trying! Up a pound since 9/7/09

Hi ya'll,

I haven't fell of the face of the earth either. I have also had a lot going on since I was on here last. I made a trip out of the country to Canada to visit my daughter and her family. Had a great time. I was there 2 1/2 weeks. Didn't gain any weight while I was there cause I walked with my daughter and went to yoga classes with her. I was back a couple of days and my dog, Sophia, became very sick and was unable to walk. It scared me so bad because my dogs are like my children. Well to make a long story short she was in the animal hospital almost a week. The diagnoses was syringomyelia. It is a condition that is in the genes of cavaliers. I have been nursing her back to health. She's much better, not back to normal yet but better. So after all that the good thing is I didn't gain any weight. I got back on the treadmill last week. So now maybe I can get back to my routine. Good luck to all!

Happy Monday everyone.  Still dealing with this cold...I just can't believe it!!  I want to buy stock in DayQuil and NiteQuil!!  Went in to work late on Friday and left early.  I'll probably leave early today too.  Doesn't help losing the overtime.  But enough about that, I lost one pound this week.  Yippee...and I got my computer back!!!  Double yippee.

Good AM everyone,  Yes I think I have missed a couple of Monday morning weigh-ins,  went on a trip with my daughter and grandkids and gained 2 pounds then last week had another trip out of town and only lost maybe a couple tenths of a pound last week.  :(  Starting full speed ahead. It is so hard can't believe how easy to gain and how slow in losing.  Anyway, tried to use my brain in the calorie calcs but most of the food was hard to calc, buffet  catering toward children at the water park hotel.  Found myself starved most of the time and still gained. Took apples and healthy snacks so can;t imagine what the gain would have been if I hadn't tried to prepare ahead of time.   Heads up for the week,  maybe just a wake up call before the Thanksgiving feast,   062150

Just one pound down this week. But at least it is DOWN.

Hi Everyone,

Sounds like everybody has been really busy lately, must be the time of year. Seems like just before the holidays everything goes a little crazy. Good thing we have this special place to come back to when things settle down or when we're ready to get back at it! Did my 1200-1300 calories this week and it paid off. I lost the pound I gained while I wasn't logging in. It's so much harder to stay at 1200 calories this time of year for me. I love all the comfort foods that go with colder weather. We have been doing a lot of hearty soups and stews which would be ok, if I wouldn't eat half the pan ( 6qt dutch oven kind of pan!) at one time! Halloween candy isn't helping either! Hershey's Milk Chocolate Snack Bars oh what a treat and next week the trick will probably show up as weight gained! Congrats to all that lost and good luck to all that are trying.

182.1 - but that's less then last Monday. I weigh myself everyday as I leave the gym. I know there's a natural fluctuation to expect but this is a good idea. The National Weight Control Registry recommends it.

I always say that I know it's not the best of method but lets use it until something better comes along.

I've kept over 150 pounds off for more then three years. Something must be working. I make an effort to remain openminded / green.

My goal weight is "Below 180".  That says I'm overweight on every chart but I don't believe in charts. I'm carrying a lot of extra skin to.

Good lucky - easy does it. Time to meet my jogging partner - later.

Yippiee, I'm still losing!!

Start Weight:  168

Goal Weight:  123 (Ambitious but will be happy to be in the mid-130's).  123 was the weight that was suggested by some web site (maybe this one).

Start Date:  Sept 11

Gender:  Female

Age:  57

Weight as of Monday:  155.8

So far I've managed to control myself around the Halloween candy.   I always buy candy that I like, and end up not having enough trick-or-treaters.  So I bring the excess to work, but we're a very small office with only one or two people eating the candy.

I had let myself go the last few years (ok last few decades), but have decided to do something about it.  I have always worked out (cardio & weights)   I just like to munch on comfort food.  I had cut out the grease and fried foods a decade ago, but am amazed at how I can find other food - and lots of it, that put on the weight.

This site is invaluable!!

did not do well between Holloween and birthdays for my son and my grandson.

Lost a pound this week.  No Halloween candy - thank goodness.  The 'usual' temptations are quite enough this week.  Oh I love Mexican food!

Newbee here.

Started Oct 19 at 181; GW 128 (according to CC) believe I would be content with 140.  CW 173.  Started exercise program last week (wish I could say I enjoy working out - but I don't).  Absolutely starving this afternoon - better drink more water.

Jeans are fitting better already!

Have to attend business conference Thurs and Fri - will really have to watch it; hope there is a gym at the motel.

We like what we are accustom to and dislike what is new and unfamiliar. Exercise daily and I promise you will miss it terribly if you skip many days. Take your body to the gym and in time your mind will follow.

Good nutrition and regular exercise are the two most beneficial activities you can cultivate. You have discovered the fountain of youth, avail yourself of it. Practice them - grow accustom to them - you will learn to like it. You will not regret it.

We are not alone in our struggle to maintain a healthy weight. If I discover a shortcut I'll let you know immediately. I trust you'll do the same.

Consider joining the (NWCR) National Weight Conrol Registry. They'll help you and you can help everyone else.

Hi all, really bummed this morning since the scale shows a 1 pound gain for the week. I know I have only myself to blame ...  Hope the rest of you have a better week.

I'm happy to post that I'm down another pound.  I weigh myself daily at the same time in the a.m., but just post my weight on Mondays, which is often lower than other days.  My weight fluctuates during the week.  If you use the weight log, I think the trend line represents the range of your true weight.  A little discouraging, because I post my lower weights, and it reminds me realistically how high the scale could still go without me truly gaining weight.  But it is reality.  If I posted my daily weights, they would probably cover that range.

YES, I SHOULD BE HAPPY - THINGS COULD BE WORSE BUT IT'S HARD STAYING MOTIVATED - YEAR AFTER YEAR. I DON'T NEED A THREAT OF HOW BAD THINGS COULD BE. I NEED A REWARD FOR THE WORK I'M TRYING TO DO. THERE'S NO WONDER SO MANY PUT THEIR WEIGHT BACK ON. MY RESOLVE IS SLOWLY BEING ERODED. WITH THE HOLIDAYS APPROACHING OUR SOCIETY USES FOOD MORE THEN EVER AND IF YOU ARE POWERLESS OVER HOLIDAY TREATS, LIKE YOURS TRULY - WELL IT CAN BE A LONELY TIME. AN OBESITY PROBLEM CAN BE A CRUEL TASK MASTER. ISOLATION OVER THE HOLIDAYS IS SAD. Cry

I had dipped down to 153.4 but then added back on this weekend Frown
