Montauk Monster or some sort of hoax?
So, what do you think it is? This thing allegedly washed up on a beach in New York, with the story breaking on gawker.com after they were tipped off. I've spent a day trying to work it out, but I can't figure out if it's some sort of hoax, something explainable or some sort of (dun dun dun) monster. Warning, if you don't like seeing weird dead things, don't click the link.
Looks like a hoax to me:
1. something looks off where the head and body meet. Looks like there is sudden change in color and texture there.
2. Its flipping the camera a bird.
Looks photoshoped to me. Take a look at the sand near the front end. It's very uniform and circular like what you'd expect from a brush. The picture also has a blurry look to it in some places that can be a telltale sign of photoshop work.
As for other reasons:
There's something wrong, anatomically, with the back end; my guess is they've used a chicken carcass for the rear. There's also something wrong with the front; the chest seems wide, but not as deep as it should be. That's not something that works with a quadreped. What I'm saying is that quadrepeds' legs (arms) from the scapula to the nail are straight up and down (for the most part). In critters that swing from trees (human like structure) the scapula lies behind the ribcage. There doesn't seem to be enough room on the thing's side to accomadate the scaplua. It could just be the angle that's making it look like that, but if I got to guess I'd say the torso could have orginally come from a human.
Also there's generally none to very little in the way of anatomical definition. It could be we have a chuncky beastie, but you should be able to see some indication of the hips, femur, the muscles along the ribs (I can't remember thier name right now), the bones in the feet, and a waist. The feet are especially bad as they tend to be bony structures, and all I see are meaty little tubes.
I think it's a dead cat! (well the scull is) and the picture has been tampered with, or the carcass before the picture was taken.
*wonders if i can get a live on for a pet* lol
hoax
I live in montauk and i know the person who found it. It is a washed up dog. It looks that way because it has been washed away and all messed up in the ocean. LOL.
now that you say it is a dog....i can see that.... there is an ear up there still. I thought it was a tortoise with no shell lol.
haha yea that was the other main theory.....funny story: the news story for this is when i saw the guy who found it(he tought me Junior lifegaurding) and i asked my friend whos relle close with his sister and thats watt she told me....haha thts how i know....
Damn, i got connections XD HAHA
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
