Monthly shopping on a budget.

Quote  |  Reply

I am getting married in August this year, our wedding is going to be so perfect. The only thing that we really really want to just top of the day is to be debt free by that day.

We both ran up some debts with mis-spent youth and have been working hard to drive them down but now we’re starting to struggle.  To hit our target of debt free husband and wife we need to pay out 25% of our joint monthly income leaving us with a maximum of £150 / $250 for 3 meals and 2 snacks a day for 30 days.

Can it be done whilst still keeping foods interesting and tasty?  Any suggestions most welcome.

I use to use this site, Frugal Recipes and Low Cost Meals | Hillbilly Housewife it is a free site.

It has changed a lot since the last time that I visited it.  It will give you some ideas of where to start.  There is a lot of information on healthy cheap meal ideas.

I need to reread this because like I said it has changed a lot in the last year.

http://coupon-queen.blogspot.com/ - You can email Lindsay she is amazing.. her budget is less and she does it with her and her husband... it's amazing.. i am learning!!

Being Frugal can be sooooo fun... just wait and seeSmile

Look at the sales adds in the paper each week and shop using what is on sale. Clip coupons, buy generic when possible, use your plates, silverware and so on instead of paper and plastic. Buy cereal and other goods in bulk. Buy meat on sale and freeze it. Pack your lunch at work instead of eating out. Get pizza from places that have $5 or other deals.

Possibly car pool or walk to save money on gas, LEFTOVERS!! and take showers together to save water and time!!!! That might leave a pound or two for a treat every now and then!

Thanks.

Spoiled candy that website is great, with that one and a few others I have just put a shopping list together to go and buy ingredients on Saturday that I estimate to be around £50 / $80 that should make 28 main meals (14 each) and about 16 lunches (8 each), maybe more if I pad them out with more veggies.

I'm excited about a good start.  :o)
