Ever since i've started dieting and actually feeling hunger my mood swings are worse than ever. I could snap and anyone anytime for anything! It's utterly ridiculous. Any ideas anyone? x

Yeah I get that too and my mum always says "your moody cos you dont eat enough" blah blah blah blah blah...i also get cold easier!

When you starve yourself, you're not getting enough nutrients your body needs to function.  That includes mentally functioning too.

Eat more...and I don't mean eat more calories (unless you're under what is acceptable here of 1200 cal/day for a woman).  If you are getting 1200 calories, take a look at what you're eating.  My lunch is only typically 92 calories, but I'm stuffed.  A whole cucumber, 10 grape tomatoes and a half a large green pepper.

I find grazing all day (so take the word "lunch" up there lightly, I eat every 2 hours or so) works because I'm not hungry and I find I'm eating a LOT of low calorie foods.  I never thought I could NOT be hungry on 92 calories, but I am.  So, an hour and a half or two hours later I'll have a little yogurt, or some fruit or something low in calories.  And then maybe three hours later I'll graze on something else low in calories.

Just my two cents!  It works for me and I'm never hungry.  And believe me....when I started this, I was finding I was eating WELL over 2,500 calories a day, well over.  And now, I've downed my caloric intake but I'm actually eating more.

I'm a grazer too.  I eat all day long - every couple of hours.  If I get too hungry I become a monster.  My husband, who can go all day without eating, knows that if he wants a pleasant day he doesn't stand between me and my food.

Like tatjanaturtle, even though I am eating all day, I rarely go over my calorie allowance.  Sometimes it's hard to eat enough.  Eating raw vegtables and high fiber foods keeps me full without too many calories and keeps my mood stable.

My Mom was like that my whole life...vacations were always hard because her eating was often off schedule and the moods appeared like some uninvited guest. Have you ever looked up hypeglycemia (sp?)?

Anyway, years later, we found out that it was her thyroid condition the whole time...poor lady, we just thought she was crabby.

So what I am saying is don't accept being crabby as the way it will be. Maybe eating more protein or different foods than you are eating right now will help balance you out. And if I were you I wouldn't leave the house without some healthy snacks just in case the monster arrises.

EAT!!

Dang I wish I remembered all the links I used to read for motivation.  I just got back on here.  But basically what I remember is that when you get into starvation mode you ruin your progress.   When you feel hungry you are working backwards.  Your body is saying... ok every single thing that comes in, we have to hold onto it like it is solid gold.  You wont lose by feeling hungry.

Tatjanturtle is right.  Your body will rebel and you will not do well.  You are already feeling the results of that with your mood.  Your physical body is doing the exact same thing.  Even if you are just consuming ruffage type rabbit food to fill in the corners, your body has something to work on.  High fiber is my suggestion.

p.s.  Diet is not *DIE* to a T.

When I start to feel cranky, sometimes a fudgesicle helps.  They're only 100 cal. or so, take a while to eat (if you don't bite), and are prepackaged, so it's easier to keep yourself from gorging.  I feel SO happy afterwards (that's probably just the sugar energy, talking, though).  Also, sitting down with a cup of tea and tuning everyone else out also helps me to cheer up and center myself.

Or, try to find ways to deal with your body's stress that don't involve eating.  Like art or exercise, baths, chit-chatting w/ girlfriends, or whatever helps you feel chill.
take a multi vitamin with a b complex in it if you dont.
calcium supps to calm nerves.

viactive are great and they taste like candy.
