Are you talking about the Chinese mooncakes?  If so, I agree.  Never understood what (some) people rave about so much.

Yes. Celebration at work started a bit early. lol

When I was younger(Younger then I already am Tongue out) I would eat them! I havent had them in quite a while. I guess thats a good thing aha. But I was ussually always satisfied with half, even though I ate the whole thing. They kinda dry out your mouth from what I remember.

Or maybe I have the completely wrong snack in my mind! ahahah. The chocolate covered marshmello thing right??

I love the flavoured mooncakes my Chinese boss would give out at work. My favourite flavour was Cappuccino.

I think this year I'm going to stay away from them as they are quite heavily loaded with calories.

I don't really like mooncakes, either.  But I'm Chinese, so my relatives always goad me into having a bite.  I always think the name sounds far better than it actually is.

Yeah, mooncakes are pretty but bland. I was given a box of durian mooncakes by a friend a couple of weeks ago... not a fan!

never heard of them before, but even the picture on wikipedia looks seriously gross!!!

LOL!  I know!  What gets me is it's not like a gooey brownie or a delicious dark chocolate truffle, where for the flavor/texture the calories are WORTH it! :)  (well, at least for my taste!)

Haha, I personally like mooncakes because I grew up with them and have Asian tastes ;)  But I'm not too sure about it anymore, since the paste is starting to become way too sweet for me (I don't eat too many sweets nowadays).  But I love the flavors of the 5-kernel and the lotus seed paste+duck egg yolk!  Very delicious! =]

And for the record, I think brownies and western cakes are disgusting.  But to each his own. Laughing

So sorry, white_sakura, didn't mean it that way! :)  You are right, it is definitely a matter of taste (and what you grew up with!!)

I totally understand your position, but... that's the only kind I can tolerate!  I will eat durian anything!

I just saw these for the first tiem the other day, in a vary fancy box of four. Soooooo pretty, all carved and detailed! But alas, I didn't get them cause I don't need four of any type of cakes!

Haha, cc31, sorry if I came off as harsh ^.^;  And I didn't mean to offend any brownie/cake lovers out there either. Embarassed

Anyway, I find that mooncakes usually aren't worth my calories or my money.  So I don't really have them except on rare occasions.
