More Burn Meter Questions Please!!!!
I am a stay at home mom but I have a very, very vigorous work out. I also work out 6 days a week. But that is all the exercise I do. Should I mark my activty level at "sedentary" and record my daily workouts or mark my activity at "active" because I am sitting around with my baby all day.
If I mark active, and I counting my workouts twice?

I think what most people do (myself included) is to mark your level as sedentary and add on your activities. That said, if you do a million different things each day for varying periods of time - it might be downright annoying to have to add each thing. For me, though, it works better to just mark it as sedentary then add it in, I feel like it's more accurate.
but if you burn 500 calories for instance exercising then, should you eat 500 calories more than your target calorie intake? or not?

No, you intake should be less than your workout inorder to loose the lbs.
No -- your intake should be less than your TOTAL burned (not just your exercise)

I think you may be adding it twice because setting to active adds the additional calories - although I don't know how it could possibly be accurate.
I also set it to sedentary and then add any walking or gym to it. If you do it this way you'll get a more accurate reading.
Ok. Then I have a question regarding this myself. Every day, without adding any activities (my level is moderate), my burn meter/BMR is around 3650 calories. If I add activities to that, it goes up, of course. When the next day starts, the counts go to back to zero. When I look at my activity logs, the only calories that show up as burned are my activities that I entered, if any for that day. So, theoretically, lets say my BMR is 3600/day and I do an activity and burn 500 calories. Then my total burn for the day is around 4100, but I don't see that anywhere. I just get the 500 as an activity.
How do I see total calories consumed vs. total calories burned (BMR + activities) from previous days?
I appologize for being long winded, but I'm a bit confused on this.
Angelyna, Thanks. That makes sense. I have changed my level to sedentary and will add my walking and runs. I think it better to err on the conservative side. Although something to note is that recommended calories for me now plunges from 1700 to 1200 per day. However, I "get" what's going on and will manually override and set my calories per day to 1500.
eisforme, Good question. I wonder if the moderators/experts could write up a detailed article or fact sheet explaining the burn meter in more detail. I have read what's out there now and I think it could be improved. Your question might help them formulate an improved update.
