Hi everybody.
I joined calorie count about a year ago when I first moved out of the house, and didn't really care about it for a year. I was 160-165 lbs back then and wasn't very happy with how I turned out. My average weight before I gained 20-25 lbs was 140 lbs, and even then I looked pretty average.
Here's an image of me (on the right) from 2007 -http://yfrog.com/3wn656215522331291249j
If I recall, I did some weight lifting starting late 2007 but nothing serous. I also focused on isolated muscles such as working my triceps and biceps and nothing else. By mid 2008 I was starting to get compliments on my arms but I was still 160 lbs
I do not recall specifics but I know that on Dec 1 I was still 165 lbs. After a trip to Hong Kong I decided to seriously focus on building muscles and cutting the fat. A combination of irresponsibility and other personal motivation factors led me to a diet plan which isn't very healthy. I am not sure what I ate but I can estimate it to be around the 1000 calorie mark. I did this for 6-8 weeks and dropped 15 lbs (to 150)
It is said that dropping 10 lbs changes your appearance drastically. For me, none of my pants fit. Even my dress pants for work did not fit. So something I did earlier this year was purchasing new clothes. People noticed and my roommate kept telling me that I was hot. I told her that I wanted to lose more.
My profile shows a pretty current image of me, taken about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I am now 145 lbs and have been for a few months. I would like to cut 5 lbs of *fat*, and a conservative expectation is to have it by the end of summer or sometime in the fall. If I am successful I'll evaluate how my lifestyle is and decide whether to change goals. Of course ideally I'd like to drop 1-1.5 lbs a week and be at 140 lbs in mid July.
I joined a couple of groups and posted my picture; I have received comments, which is very motivating. If I had started earlier, who knows how I would look now.
For anybody who is still reading, I have some (take it for what it's worth) advice I tell all of my friends:
- Don't feel guilty about food
- Cheat days are okay; but when they become the habit stop
- You need to exercise or you will lose muscle and fat
and most importantly: Don't ever stop. If you stop you will undo all of the gains you've made.
You look great...you're story is very motivating.
And I really needed to hear that last tip about exercise...because I HATE exercise, but I know how hard it is for women to gain muscle, so I need to hang on to the little bit I have.
Good luck with that last 5 pounds!
Update: it's now mid July and I've reached and kept 140 lbs for a while now.
It does make a huge difference but it alone does not make me happy, which was one of the biggest shocks.
Not sure what I'm talking about. Mostly just babbling. But a success is a success, I suppose.
