I tried making coffee using instant coffee (actually quite good in Japan) with a scoop (10 grams) of whey protein powder (honey flavor) and a half cup of milk.  It's only 90 calories and gives a balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates.  If you struggle to keep a 30/30/40 fat/protein/carbs balance like I do, it's a good choice and tastes pretty good.

Does anybody else have any tricks to get more protein into their diet?  Would you share them?

egg whites are a fast and low calorie way to get lots of protein... 1 egg white has about 4 grams of protein and only 16 calories.  i like to add veggies, or if im craving something sweet, i add a little honey and dried fruit.

The way I get protein in my life is by really focusing in on eating a lot of free-ranged red meats &/or fish - both of these types of protein are very healthy and contain omega-3 fatty acids which have numerous benefits! I think about all the good stuff I am eating, which helps me eat more of it! ha ha!

Yes egg whites are great, I even make them microwaved for breakfast at work to make sure i get protein.

Also 1% cottage cheese, plain greek yogurt (great protein), Special K Protein Plus (my favorite hidden gem of a cereal with 10grams protein), tofu blocks blended with ice and milk and strawberry for a creamy protein shake.

Hmm what else, lately ive been dipping celery and carrots into Fat free cream cheese which has a decent amount of protein for a filler snack and only 30 cal per 2 tbsp.

My gf (who is trying to maintain weight) likes to make a protein smoothie w/ yogurt, juice, (various kinds of) fruit, and some protein powder (usually about 25 to 35 g). I'm not a fan of smoothies but this thing tastes pretty good once she blends it all up. You'd have to do the math on your ingredients to figure out the 30/30/40 aspect, but it's quick and pretty decent.

Nonfat yogurt is my new favorite way to get protein without fat!  Also, lowfat or skim milk in EVERYTHING.

I've been thinking about using protein poweder and the honey flavored powder OP mentioned sounds tasty, what brand is this, kyashiis?

Thanks to everybody for their ideas.  They all sound good and I will try them out.

In addition to lean meats, fish, and poultry, make sure you're getting plenty of dark leafy greens like spinach.  Nuts and seeds are great sources of protein (and good fats), just don't go overboard on the portions.  Beans pack a huge amount of protein per calorie.  And, choose your carbs wisely.  Whole grain breads have way more protein (and fiber) than refined white bread.  Pitas typically have more protein than bread.  Use brown rice instead of white rice, or better yet quinoa.

I eat a lot of the things you've said except maybe the nuts and seeds.  I wish I could get whole grain bread here.  I would eat bread more often if I could.  My husband won't eat brown rice, and there is no quinoa here.  I guess I have to rely on lean meats, fish and poultry.  I eat a lot of dark green vegetables, too.

Thanks for your advice.  Good luck with your goals.
