more than 5 stone to lose/people that have lost this
hi i'm looking for some more motivation! i've got btween 7 and 8 stone to lose to become my ideal weight.....has anyone got any success stories or advice.....debs x
Hi Debbie Lou. I'm in exactly the same position as you. I want to lose about 7 stone ( I think. I'll know better when I have lost the 1st 2 or 3). First of all, welcome to this site. Don't you think it's fantastic ? I am just coming up to the end of my second week. I lost 10 lbs in my first week which was a great motivator and I am due to weigh myself in the morning again. The support from people on here is a great help and all the tools really help you focus. The only advice I can give is make sure you eat the minimum calories every day, drink plenty of water and do some exercise. I also find that making a journal entry frequently helps you stay focused. Are you in the UK ? Only you mentioned stones and most people on here (from the States) count in lbs. I will add you as a friend - if you do the same with me, we can read each others journals and make comments to keep each other motivated.
Welcome again and good luck !
In the UK we measure in stones and pounds. A stone is 14 pounds.
hi wendywoo! yea, i'm in the uk lol
thanks for your reply, yea, add me....i don't know how to...lol
i know exactly what i'm meant to be doing.....it's just doing it that's the problem! haha!!!!!
i work nights you see, three on, three off so it's tough.... when you're up all night you want calories to keep you going but i'm just gonna have to change my habits!
however, i say that working nights is the problem, but it's not really (if i'm honest) because i've only been doing nights for about a year and i haven't put all my weight on in that year!
i know i can do! come on! yea! lol
It must be difficult though to work out all your calories when you're on and off nights and your sleeping pattern is all over the place ! But you're quite right, no more excuses !
I have just completed my 2nd week and have lost another 2 lbs so 12 lbs in 2 weeks ! My problem is cutting out the alcohol, especially the wine ! So I have had none for 2 weeks but am going out tomorrow night so will allow myself some wine - I think the odd treat does you good
.
That's about what I want to lose, too.
The odd treat *does* do you good. There's no point in shunning your vices all the time, it only makes you want them more, so drink a little wine or eat a little cake or (in my case) eat a small bag of movie popcorn once in a while.
And alcohol, especially red wine, has it's own health benefits, so you can use that as an excuse. My boyfriend uses it as an excuse for chocolate all the time. ;)
Hi Debs,
Here's some inspiration. I gained 110 lbs (7.8 stones?) in 6 years from sleep apnea and stress--it crippled me! In May I told myself to eat whatever I wanted when I wanted with one condition--pay attention and look for patterns in my eating...was I hungry or just bored, had I missed a meal or a snack, etc. I discovered I had picked up every bad eating habit imaginable! The worst habit was NOT eating! I would wake up and have a cup of coffee and because I'm self-employed at home would go right into the office. Next thing, phones are ringing, I'm busy and forget to eat. I'd be out doing errands, my sugar level would drop and--wham..I would eat anywhere I was close to. I had all this great food at home and would eat out! I went online and read up on metabolism. I am proud to say I've lost 52 lbs since June 3rd! My secret? I would eat 3 (yes, 3) walnuts before I had my coffee. Two hours later, no matter how busy I was, I was HUNGRY and had to stop working and make myself a descent breakfast. This started me back on the road to small frequent meals and fewer nighttime cravings. The weight just started to come off. The more I lost, the more compliments, the more I'd lose!!
There was one website that had three words that stuck--commitment, consistency and convenience. Once I made the commitment I stocked up convenient, ready to grab foods for when life got too busy to cook. The hard part is consistency. I'm still working on that which is hard when you have too much estrogen :) I still have another 57 pounds to lose, but that's just 4 stones away (that sounds easier!) Susie J
PS all the susies were taken--I'm not a know-it-all like the name implies--smarterwoman is a take on my biz name
Wow Susie - what an inspiration !
My problem also was bad eating habits ... no breakfast etc etc ...
The key for me, as you say is to have the right foods in the house all the time so as to avoid eating the wrong things when you have not got much time and are hungry ... and for me, not to buy wine.
I drank 2 glasses of wine last night and ended up with a bad headache which is a good thing as I won't be tempted to buy any more for a while !
I still have another 60 or so lbs to go (4.5 stones?)... but its coming along. (i hope and i'm trying!)
Anyhow... if you want to talk feel free to private message me!!

I have @ 3 stone to lose and like africalover4ever, I am also from the U.S.
I got caught up in the chitchat above and my comment is that even though most of us at CC may be American, I have to second africalover4ever in that I also really love it when folks from other countries use their vocabulary of origin!
Blayne - WOW. Well done so far and good luck for the rest !
It's great sharonclaire isn''t it ? I'm learning so much about the US vocab !
okay, that's not typical American humor...I'm in a silly mood. ; )
all these years I've been 'on' my son @ all the time he spends on the gaming but he's made friends from Greece and England, Chicago, Canada and even a few Asian countries (language does pose some barriers)...now I finally understand why it's so exciting to him!
I'm not a big drinker but I love my wine, too, on occasion. The last nice bottle I had was a spiced red called Witches Brew. Heat it and yum!
I don't mind what you call me but no, it's not wrong !
What is wrong is that 'humor' is spelt humour over here !!!
Anyway, TTFN (which means ta ta for now - in other words goodbye !)
And we say ta ta for now, too!!! but, only when we are impersonating proper English speakers. : o
take care, sharon
