everyone says it is important to eat a balanced breakfast.
well, what if some fruit and cereal turns into fruit, cereal, oatmeal, a bagel, some more cereal, and the rest of the fridge?
in the past, whenever i have binged, it is usually late at night. well, today i binged in the morning---now what? does that mean not eat for the rest of the day? i am determined not to let this turn into one of those vicious binging cycles where you binge, don't eat because you feel "guilty" and then binge again because you did not eat.
if anyone is sick of binging, has advice to share, or hates the feeling of doing so well and then ruining everything with a few too many bites of your favorite (unhealthy) food feel free to post your thoughts, vent, and most of all, get motivation to lose weight!
I have done that. And what works for me is first and foremost to stop feeling guilty. Then I go out and do something that makes me feel good about myself- work out. Or finish some little chores around the house I have been putting off forever.
Then I have a small meal or couple of healthy meals for the rest of the day (think veggies/ beans/ a half serving or quarter serving of grain)- important so that you dont "punish" yourself for the binge. If you go over maintenance, dont worry about it.
And then I wake up in the morning pleased at how I have learned to be kind to myself, and carry on.
I have a binging problem as well and mind tends to start 3-4 days after starting my plan. I'm on day 3 from starting over yet again within the last month and so far I'm telling myself if I can make it to a week without going overboard, I can do this. I was craving peanut butter this morning and any kind of bread so I made some toast 140c and a tbsp of PB at 90 c. I already had 300c this morning of oatmeal and I try to stay at about 1000-1200 for an entire day.
U picked a good time to binge I say. Now you have all day to work some of that off if you wanted to. Go to the gym and stay an extra half hour and you will be fine. As for eating, stick to lite things such as salad and fruit. Perhaps a grilled chicken breast for dinner after a good workout. Protein helps me A LOT after a binge to get rid of the bloating and water weight gain.
Remember takes 3500 to equal pound of fat. You many have eaten a pound of food or more this morning but from what you said, I highly doubt it comes to 3500 worth of calories.

That's why you're binging.
Just a thought...this "balanced breakfast" is heavy on the carbs and I really didn't see any protein...so in my mind I thought of course you were starving!
I saw a study of folks that ate a bagel vs. those that ate something like eggs & meat. Those that had the bagel ate way more calories though out the day because they were hungry...not satisfied! I find for myself if I eat say the Arnold Sandwich thin with a 1/4 cup of egg beaters with cheese and two slices of bacon or some turkey sausage I am much more satisfied throughout the day. The first meal is most important to set the tone for the day!
I think fruits are great (I east several a day) and today for lunch I ate a ham sandwich and fruit and then fruit for snack...now I am really hungry. If my snack involved some protein I wouldn't be as hungry. That oatmeal you mentioned can be made and then mix a little protein powder with milk to make it to stick to your bones a little more. Just a thought...and remember I am a guy so take it for what it is worth.
BTW: I really liked the "Body for Life" and the "3 Hour Diet" a few years ago and they both taught about doing the protein with each meal.
Don't beat yourself up too bad...tomorrow is a new day fresh set of choices!
