Will drinking coffee in the AM start up my metabolism, or must I eat food for that?


Answer

Your metabolism, or the rate at which you expend energy, increases by about 10% after drinking coffee and other caffeinated beverages.  It also increases by about 10% after eating breakfast.  If you start your day with coffee, be prepared to eat a nutritious breakfast before your caffeine rush wears off because eating breakfast helps to maintain high energy levels all throughout the day.
