Morning Motivation

Quote  |  Reply

Last week I got up 5 days in a row and worked out before work.  I actually felt great going to work knowing I have already accomplished something for the day.  Well this week I haven't (I havent worked out this week b/c I wasn't feeling well but I feel a million times better and set my alarm last night for 6:00 to wake up and work out and I didn't get up so now I have to work out after work which I used to do all the time but the weather is getting nicer and I just want to get it out of the way).  I want to get up tomorrow and Friday and Saturday at 6:00 to workout but am scared because I didn't get up today.  Why is it that I could do it last week but not this week!  I am taking it easy the rest of the week; going to work out but not as high intensity.  I want to really start this on Monday getting up at 6:00 for my workouts (working out by 6:30.  Any tips on how to be successful at this.  Oh and by the way I don' t go to a gym.  I have dvd's at home that I do.  I go to bed early because I know I need to get up.  Maybe I'm getting too much sleep?  In bed by 10:30 and I try to get up at 6:00 so that's 7.5 hours but I end up sleeping until 8:00.  :(  I just don't want to fail!!

Jessica-

I am so having the same exact issues this week.  For weeks now I've been exercising before work.  But this week, I just can't seem to get my a** in gear.  This morning I hit snooze like 20 times.  B/c of my lack of motivation and feeling really tired I even went to the doctor yesterday.

One thing he said to me was to listen to my body, it just may need a break (i've been pushing really hard).  I didn't like that answer so I spoke to my friend who is a personal trainer...she agreed with him.  But she had a few things to add.

1) Sleep with the A/C on. Apparently you rest better in a cooler environment which may help getting up in the AM.

2) Get a buddy.  (Which I thought was impossible since I don't belong to a gym.) But her suggestion was to find someone to call or video conference or meet with at 6:30 to make sure both of us are up and moving.

3) Then the usually: plenty of water, rest, eating balanced, enough cals but not too many and my favorite another alarm clock across the room so I have to get out of bed to turn it off.  Theory being once your feet are on the floor you have no reason not to get going.

I hope these tips help you too. I'm buying an a/c today for my bedroom :-)

Good Luck

Pam

Great thanks!  I usually sleep with the air on so that's good!  I think I just need to listen to my body this week also.  It seems hard to start something in the middle of the week; like Monday, Tues and today I didn't get up in the morning but I want to tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.  Part of me feels like I should just wait until MOnday and kick it in high gear and the other part of me feels like I should get up tomorrow morning and start now.  What do you think?

I used to hate getting up in the AM, because I always seemed to be tired. I figured it out though. I'm taking liquid B-vitamins and they give me energy and boost my metablolism. I still drink a couple cups of coffee a day, but I used to drink a whole pot of double brewed coffee in like 4 hours. thats like 6 double espresso's and hour. but i'm weaning myself off so much coffee. I think I'm gonna start getting up with the sun so i can walk when its peaceful outside.

Thanks for motivating me!!!!!

Liquid B vitamins?  What's that?  Like B-12 or something?  How much do you take?

know the feeling.........I work out in the evenings because I cant seem to get my but up except on weekends.........Weekends I'm up between 6:30 and 7 on my own and rearing to go, I'm done with my workout by 9........weekdays I could hit the snooze a million times. I started swimming for my excercise since it is hotter than Hades right now. I love to swim, so now it isnt just excercise, it's fun. I keep trying to get up and swim........but so far its been a no go. Maybe tomorrow...........

Good Luck!

I would suggest getting back to your normal routine as soon as you can.  If your still sluggish, do less.  I find for myself getting back into routine asap is best.  Each day I take it easy or give myself a break the harder it is for me to get going again.

So i'm setting my alarm for 8am tomorrow and I'me going to do a good 30min of something.

Good luck!

I been having the same problem for the past month, I was doing so good but I when on a trip to Colorado and after then I can't get my self back in to gear but today I walk with my hubby and I'm going to get up early tomorrow so I can start again! Pam your tips are verrrrrrry good! thank your friend for me!!! thanks to you too!! because you post this tips for every one to see! I wish the best to every one and if anybody wants me to call or Text in the mornings I will!!! by 6 A.M I'm almost done with my work out! I start at 5 A.M . I need some one to help me stay motivated too!! HELP!!!!!!!!

You can buy them at walmart, and you take a dropper full, which is one milliliter. its not just B-12, its all the B vitamins, but it has 20,000% daily value of your B-12, which is what speeds up your metabolism, which in turn increases your appetite which then leads to more energy. its wonderful stuff. I still have to drink coffee, but thats because my coffee was like mud it was so strong.

Hi gig

If the B-12 increases your appetite do you eat more and is ok?????

I'm trying to eat every two hours but healthy and small portions and I'm always hungry. Thats why my sister said she gain weight when she was taking vitamin B-12!

Good morning.  I got up today and did 45 minutes taebo.  I wanted to more but I was dying!  And then when I was done I was feeling a little sick so I made an egg and laid down for 30 minutes.  But I got up so that's the good thing I guess!  Maybe instead of me trying to jump right in and do 2 hours I should focus on an hour first.  At least for the rest of this week and next week.  My dvd's are about 45-50 minutes so I can always jump on the elliptical for 10 minutes after that to make it a full hour.  Next week though I can only work out 4 days.  We are going to Cheboygan, MI (where my fiance's family lives) Friday after work so I am working 645-330 next Friday.  I would LOVE to get up at 4:00 and workout 4:30-5:30 but I don't know......

I think I might get those B vitamins.  Is there a brand you reccommend?  so it's not just B12?  it's just called B Vitamins?

Well I just got some liquid b vitamins and it doesnt come with a dropper so i will have to find one somewhere to purchase!  serving size is 1/4 teaspoon.  we will see!

I think I'm going to try they liquid b vitamins also.  I've been taking 5 hour energy every now and again and all that its in it is b vitamins caffeine and something else.

How long before it kicks in?  Did you notice quicker weight loss?

The 5 hour energy for me kicks in within 15 mins or so.  I got my entire staff taking it during 'prom season' (I manage a tux store) anyway it seems to kick in a little different for each of us.  I don't think it aided in my weight loss except for the fact when I got home from work (sometimes after 11) I still had enough energy to work out and got up on time the next day.

I bought the b-12 liquid from gnc today.  Lets hope it works.

No morning workout for me tomorrow though, I have to be at my nutritionist by 830 and then straight to work.  So Saturday will be my first morning trying all of the tips.

Let us know how it all goes!!!  I didn't get up today.  I have been soooooo sore the last 2 days; and I only worked out 2 days this week!  I think I am going to give my body the rest of the weekend to rest so I can kick it in high gear on Monday!!!

I only hit snooze once.  Then the 2nd clock went off and well it had to be turned off.  Out of the cozy bed, across the room, realized I had to pee, **** I was awake.  So yes it worked.  I didn't get to exercise b/c of an issue at work and I had to be in by 7 am.  But I was up earlier then I have been in over a week.

I woke up this morning!!!  My goal this week is 4 days.  I have to work really really early Friday and then we are going out of town so I am working out M-Th in the morning.  I am also changing my goals a little.  This week is 60 minutes (M/W 50 minutes taebo and 10 minutes elliptical, T/Th 60 minutes elliptical).  Then next week I will up it 20 minutes (and also it will be 5 days) so my workout will be 80 minutes instead of 60.  I think it helps to increase it slowly.  I would try to do too much that I would just totally burn myself out.  So I got up this morning and I'm happy I did!  3 more days to go!!!

Hi there! I usually always workout in the mornings because that's the only time I really have, but it's at 5:30-6 ish. Last week it was really hard, that darn snooze button. This morning I got up after only hit the snooze once, ran my mileage, and have been feeling the best I have felt in almost 3 weeks!

Hi every one! This morning I did 3 1/2 miles running and walked 1 1/2 mile and in the after noon I walk 5 1/2 miles. the only bad thing about doing all this is fine for a while and then I stop. I only lost 14 punds since November.

That's about where my weight loss is as well.  I have gotten up M-W (M/W taebo and Tuesday elliptical and I plan on doing the elliptical tomorrow as well).  I always feel better when I work out in the morning but getting up is still hard.  How long before it should just become routine for me.  This week my workouts are 60 minutes bue next week I am upping them to 80 minutes so I will have to get up about 25 minutes earlier.  I will probably stick with the 80 minutes for 2 weeks and hopefully by then I will be in a comfortable routine?
