morning/noon/afternoon/night sickness

I am looking for suggestions that have worked for you to ease "nausea and vomiting of pregnancy". I am only 6 weeks, and am really struggling. I am being woken up at 4am and feel sick all day. I know (pray) this will pass, but any suggestions would be great.

hi sunquest :) i'm at 33 weeks and do not miss those early times. a few suggestions, take your prenatal vitamin at night, munch on saltines (this really helped me! keep some next to your bed and when you wake up eat a couple before getting out of bed), and some people find that nibbling constantly (grazing) helped them. i personally lost weight b/c i couldn't stomach even the idea of food, but i've heard from many that grazing...not letting yourself get hungry, helps. also, a friend of mine swears by her cinnamon gum...i found it too strong, but maybe you can find a flavor that you like and just chomp away!

hope this helps. hang in there!
Hey I really feel for you!!

Thats how I was with my 1st 14 yrs ago.

Most important eat just little bits all day long.  Dont let yourself go hungry.  Drink gingerale as well.  It really helped me.  Skip overly spicey foods, fried foods and carry a package of salted crackers with you at all times.  The nausea never went away for me but I was able to control it using these tricks.
ginger ale and saltines/crackers helped me.  Hopefully it will go away soon!  always keep something in your stomach; and try to stay away from strong smells.  congrats!!  also-  hydrating always seemed to work. after my 14th week; all the nasuea and fatigue seemed to pass.

Beta- hCG which maintains the pregnancy, produced by the egg causes the nausea and sometimes vomiting (N/V) you feel during the day, noon and night. Vanessa is right that this too will pass because b-hCG eventually decreases (because placenta develops takes over in supporting the baby) in amount once you go into your 2nd trimester. Well, unless you have Hyperemesis Gravidarum- a totally different.

I too had the same problem for both my previous pregnancies.... but eventually goes away on your 2nd tri.

1. grazing - Cheerios i ate 1 piece at a time if i felt N/V

2. drake allotof water

3. sucked a dried fruit e. dried mango, apricot

hope this helps

i would not have survived the 1st trimester if i didnt take vitamin b-6 every night along with my prenatal vitamin. once i hit the 2nd tri i was able to stop taking the b-6. just be careful not to take too high of a dose.

I'll second the suggestion of ginger ale and saltine crackers.  And, for some reason, bananas seemed to help too.

ginger- really helped me, gingerale, gingersnaps, ginger tea

pepermint- pepermint suckers, pepermint gum, pepermint tea

salt- saltines, oyster crackers, crutons, pretzels, cucumbers or tomatoes w/ salt

I was pregnant w/ twins and was extremely sick for 5 months.  I had to keep eating and I mean continually.  I got so sick of thinking about food but if I didn't make sure I ate once an hour I would definately pay for it.  I too left gingersnaps, club crackers, pepermint candies, and gingerale next to my bed every night and would wake up and eat a cracker and cookie and go back to sleep.  I thought of it as just preparing me to get up at all hours of the night with the babies.  Soon you will be getting up too pee 3-5 times a night so might as well get used to it.

GOOD LUCK

:(

i'm back to being nauseaus too.  afternoon/evening sickness!!!

Sucking on lemon drops helped my morning sickness.

Hope your doing better now.

I am doing better now, thank you. I try to eat every couple hours (especially in the morning) and my doctor put me on diclectin. I am 10 weeks now and the nausea is managable and vomiting is becoming increasingly rare. I am functioning - and looking forward to a healthy baby!
