what is your most satisfying "healthy" food?
today i was reheating some rice for lunch/breakfast/summerfood (yeah my meals are whenever im hungry, its summer.)
i had a cup of cooked rice and grape crystal light. and a cob of corn. yum :)
ok, back to my point... the cup of cooked rice was so satisfying! its not like i felt sick after it, but it really filled me up. a cup of oatmeal (cooked cup) is similar, but not quite as filling. calorie per calorie, oatmeal and rice are very fulfilling for me.

Something with lots of fiber like a bowl of oatmeal or lentil soup. I made my own lentil soup last night with some lentils, potatoes, zucchini, and squash, and was very full after one bowl.
Cake- no I am just kidding. I am actually lucky because I really do not like cake. If I am hungry at night my most satsifying snack is a cup of hot tea with honey and toast. I am not sure why, but having the hot tea makes me feel full.
oh yeah, I forgot, another one would be scrambled eggs. Love them and I find they are also very satisfying.
Ha, well, hate to sound like there's an echo in here, but for me, oatmeal and eggs, too. I've always liked oatmeal, but I've recently taken it to a whole new level, thanks to some of the great suggestions I've seen on here. My most favorite recent one is putting a half regular-sized container of Light Thick and Creamy yogurt into my oatmeal, along with tons of chopped fresh fruit. I've also switched to light vanilla soy instead of the 2% I was using. Sooo, a half-container of French Vanilla Yoplait along with light vanilla soy milk, strawberries and bananas, and OMG. It's like dessert in a bowl for breakfast. I also use different yogurt flavors, but that is my favorite combo so far.
Also, eggs any style. I really like a chopped boiled egg on a piece of whole wheat toast with a little salsa, spicy mustard, or a little drizzle of some type of light dressing, anything to make it less dry. Sometimes maybe with a slice of Canadian bacon thrown on there, too.
Both these things keep me going and full for at least 4 to 5 hours. Yum!

Mushrooms for me. Sometimes I'll get fancy with them and cut one into itsy bitsy pieces, and mix it with some mustard, chopped celery, and whatever else I have on hand that would go well with it, and "stuff" the remaining ones with the mixture.
oh yes, eggs. i havent had a whole egg in a long time (ive been having a lot of egg whites, less sat. fat) but i think i might make one tomorrow morning.
oatmeal, eggs. american favorites. yum
and i dont really like cake either, i only eat the frosting. except today my mom made a spice cake for a family reunion, using frosting with 2 grams of trans fat per 2 tbsp. thats kind of gross.

If I am hungry, I have a cup of green tea. It is great because not only does it fill you up but it is a fat burner!
Yes, I find hot tea does the trick - especially when I've eaten and am still hungry as it just helps to fill the spaces to make me realise I am actually full.
Porridge, baked beans and eggs also fill me up - although mostly its seeing a huge bowl of something disappear that makes me feel full - so a selection of fruit and veg piled high satisfies me mentally.

Oatmeal, tea, and soup are the main ones, but lots of other things fill me up as well.
Surprised nobody said water! : P

Everything I eat. :)
strawberries and chocolate alpro pudding, makes me feel really indulgent, like im spoiling myself. plus a big punnet (500g) and one pudding = 250 cals
certainly satisfies the chocolate craving

Beans. A small amount of black beans, some tomatoes, and some green pepper topped with a slice of fat free cheddar and some spicy garlic sauce and I'm set for a while. Great for satisfying a Mexican food craving. :)
One hard boiled egg on a slice of toasted granary bread accompanied by red grapefruit. Yum! I save this for the weekends.
A whole grain English muffin fresh out of the toaster, spread with peanut butter and I let it sit until the PB is all melty...MMM....salty, sweet, creamy, crunchy.....delicious.
for breakfast, egg white omelettes, definitely! stuffed with veggies of course. 2 egg whites+2 tsp of soy milk to fluff them up REALLY does the trick. I've eaten egg white omelettes like, 5 times a week since summer started. haha
oh, and HUUUUGE salads. it's amazing how much lettuce you can eat for so little calories.. obivously you guys know that, but it's just sooo satisfying to stab a fork into a bowl the size of a 20-pound boulder [haha] filled with all the greens you want, knowing that what you're about to eat probably doesn't top 50 calories. haha

For Lunch or Dinner, Veggie Sandwiches or Melts!
Even a Veggie-Burger is really satisfying for me.
I'm no Vegan or Veggitarean, but I've come to find that once I start eating meat, it's hard to stop.
Anything chock-full of fiber is really good, too, but of course...that's the point of fiber.
Apples are super-satisfying.

mueseli, chocolate protein bars :), wholegrain toast, eggs, wheetbix, cabbage, bran muffins, bananas, raw carrots and mushroom.
hm, bran muffins.
or flax seed? almond?
i might search cookinglight.com for healthy muffin recipes.
i plan on packing my own lunches this year. making a salad at school (reduced cost lunch, might as well take advantage of it) and then supplementing it with a hard boiled egg, or tuna sandwich, etc...
muffins for after school snacks, healthy ones. or on-the-go-breakfasts.
because they're just so cute!

* Fresh mushrooms sauted in a drop of oil.
* Fake mashed potatoes using cauliflower with fake butter spray, salt and pepper.
* Black beans with chopped raw onions mixed with shrimp or fish.
* Finishing any meal off with a sugarfree jello.
Im surprised to see mushrooms already mentioned. I could eat sauted mushrooms as a meal. The mashed cauliflower just feels heavy in my stomach as do the black beans make seafood feel heavier.
Being on Southbeach, my body doesnt get that feel when processing carbs hits your bloodstream to indicate fullness. You can feel physically full but your body doesnt go into that relaxed mode (i believe its a processing of sugar reaction). I find very low cal sugarfree jello can at least be a fake body sign to my body that Im done.

My favorite healthy food is a good sandwich. That's right. I use low calorie whole wheat bread (45 cal per slice), Oscar Mayer shaved fat-free turkey, ham, roast beef (45-60 cal per 6 slices), leaf lettuce (10 cal per leaf), Dill pickle (5-10 cal) and tomato.
If I haven't had much in the way of fats, and my calorie count is pretty low, I will use 1/2 Tablespoon of the lite Gourmet flavored mayos (chipotle or wasabi) which is 25 cal per half tablespoon.
I just make my sandwich as big or small as what I need to to keep my calories in check. If things are really bad....half sandwich with lots of lettuce and half a serving of the meat.
