why most of us want to lose weight? I'll tell you why I lost weight.

In the year 2004 i was 132lbs. i like to wear skimpy cloths and i never cared how i look until one bastard said i'm fat infront of my face. i know i shouldn't give a **** but that was hurtful. so thats when i decided to lose weight.

In year 2006 i dropped down to 125lbs.  no one  noticed cause i  always  wear  cloths twice my size. (i like to feel comfortable) nothing drastic just cut half of what i eat and excercise more.

than I dropped again to 118lbs in 2007. changed my cloths to my size. thats when everyone starts to notice i lost weight. said i look great and all. (sarcastically) yay for me. those who had not seen me since 2004 couldn't recognize me. i saw that bastard again, my friend told me he wants to ask me out. i told him go **** yourself cause i don't go for guys who call women fat. that **** him over real good.

it's 2008 and i'm now currently 108lbs. it was a stressful year for me so i kinda lost weight by not eating(my bad).  The next thing i like to do now is to stay healthy and maintain my weight. (and try on skinny jeans!) lol.

While many people have reasons for weight loss, gain, maintainance - or whatever they use CC for, even just the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle - I think it's important it should be for you, because you want to, and not just influenced by the words of one other person. It's great you got to throw it back at him, but, really, did you do this for you? For your health and your happiness, and not just outward appearances?

That said, 108lbs is very light! Cutting half of what you were eating might've been alright if you'd previously been consuming 3000 calories a day, but combined with exercise, too little food and too much of a burn defecit can result in something called "starvation mode", as well as damaging the body. An adult woman needs 1200 calories per day to survive, a teenage girl or an adult man 1500 per day bare minimum, and a teenage boy 1800 per day minimum. And that's when you're totally sedentary!

If you are 21 or older you can use CC's tools to work out your BMR. If you are under 21, CC's tools are inaccurate and you should use this calculator instead: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html as you are still growing. Yes, even in the later years - there's more going on inside of you that you simply can't see.

As for the aforementioned starvation mode, this is where your body holds every last thing it can get in expectance of a famine. Water, food, calories - and can lead to weight gain. Explained:

  • Dieting & Metabolism - This article explains starvation mode and why undereating is counter productive.
  • The Body Neglected - This is what happens when you undereat for an extended period of time.

So, ah, again, out of total curiousity - how much are you eating, now, to maintain, and how tall and old you are?
