Motivated by a diet pill

Quote  |  Reply
I think that motivation is a very important point when you want to lose weight. If you are not motivated you won't neither eat healthy food nor exercise as often as you can.  But finding motivation is very very difficult because you won't be successful at once. Therefore I thought about using the diet pill kioslim. This could help me to get started. What do you think?

i know nothing of kiloslim but i do know diet pills can be very dangerous do ur research and make sure its safe.
The hydroxycitric acid found in kioslim (you may be aware of other diet pills listing themselves as Hydroxy- this or that) had one claim of a possible effect on weight loss but several follow up studies dispel a connection.  Bbeing an herbal supplement, it escapes review, approval and dosage standardization by the FDA.

Ask yourself:
If diet pills worked, wouldnt they be flying off the shelves and endorsed by reputable companies?

Yes, there are always new people willing to drop cash and gamble on them so manufacturers will always be market to dieters unless the FDA finally starts requiring them to back up their claims.

Until one is actually proven to be dangerous and banned, diet pills will be sold to pocket your cash on false hope.

I think in getting started and motivated, you would be best served investing in proven and recommended supplements like multivitamins.  Sure they dont make claims of weight loss but any pill that does includes the disclaimer 'with healthy eating and exercise'.
Also, there will always be people who will take diet pills and, because of their insistance that they work, will put in all the effort required to lose weight and credit the pills.

The FDA may not have control with over-the-counter diet pills, another agency has successfully fined them.  "The Federal Trade Commission ordered the makers of Xenadrine EFX, CortiSlim, TrimSpa and One-A-Day Weight Smart to pay $25 million in fines for false advertising claims not backed by scientific evidence."
You can read more about it HERE.

The reality is if diet pills did make any difference, they would be reported on the evening news and medical journals instead of the cheesy commercials and dieters influenced by them.

I just started taking Berkley and Jensen Weight Assist Vitamins.  It has EHCG and green tea.  It "compares to One-A-Day WeightSmart".  I got it at BJ's but Sams Club as a version of it too.  It is just a little less expensive than One-A-Day.

There is no magic pill though.  The best motivation tool is losing a couple of pounds.  Getting into that pair of jeans that were nothing but a memory or a dream.

Good luck to you.  I wish you success!

About 5 years ago I lost 30 pounds taking "Metabolife356"...it actually worked...but of course it is banned now. So pills do work, but if they do someone usually has to mess it up for everyone else by exceeding the dosage or not following the directions or warnings and then it's ripped off the market. I think meth labs were also buying it to make meth with...and for that reason you can't even buy over the counter cold medicine anymore without nearly registering at the pharmacy here. I know a person shouldn't rely on pills completely to lose weight, and no, the hoodia, and all those things do NOT work. Eating less and exercising is the only real way.
i'm worried about the fact that you think you need a pill to "help you get started." to lose weight and keep it off, you need to change your diet for good. using pills to do that just doesn't make sense, even if you only plan to use them at the beginning.

this needs to be something you can do on your own FOREVER. instead of using a pill to help you get started, why not start making small changes in your diet and adding a little bit of exercise to your day. cut out drinks with calories, replace an unhealthy snack with a piece of fruit or some veggies. once you see the difference little changes can make, it will motivate you to make bigger ones!
Perhaps if you need a little help getting started you should try something like Slim Fast?
I can say that some diet pills are a good way to get motivated but they become addictive. I'm sad to say that I have been addicted to them for years and I hope I haven't done any damage to my body. I've taked hydroxycut, xenadrine, lipodrene, and just a week ago Xyience. I've taken one with ephedra and ones without(caffeine). I remember doing good with xenadrine but I was bouncing off the walls, Hydroxycut was ok the first time but the 2nd time around it gave me bad chest pains. Lipodrene I liked but it was taken off the shelves and it was a good appetite supressor. I was never hungry, but now I know it's not good to not eat. And finally Xyience gave me the energy to function in the morning and the energy to go to the gym. Eventually I started getting chest pains again so now I've stopped taking that and I've decided to not take anything anymore other than a multivitamin and a b-complex vitamin. I may start to take Abs+ made by Genuine Health that is supposed to be all natural and not have caffeine in it. I just suggest that whatever you take you take for the short term and not long term because we don't know the effects of long term use yet!

Unfortunately I believe that there are quite many diet pills which don't help at all, are a waste of money and time and might even have bad side effects. But I think as long as you do a very good research on diet pills and talk to people have have tried those diet pills it is okay. Don't you think so? I mean I have tried many diets during the past years but although I don't like my body, I wasn't able to stick to the diet. I guess I am too week and too less motivated. I just need something to get started.

(I copie and paste this from my journay)

CW 156.6lbs 2/23/08

I started taking lipo 6 on January 15, 2008

weight 156lbs I made the mistake of not weighing myself for 4 weeks, derrible mistake, when i got on the scale on monday 2/11/08 it says 159.6lbs OMG how did this happen, i know that im doing good with my eating and exercise. after that i decided to stop taking the stupid lipo 6 because before i started taking it i was 159.6lb so i lost 3.6lbs without that stupid pill, i just thought it was going to help me lose weight faster, but i was wrong. 2/11/08 i stop taking lipo 6 and today 2/14/08 im 157.6lbs thats 2lbs lost. Im so happy for that and also so mad at myself for taking those stupid diet pills, a whole month gone, i could have been down to 150lbs by just eating right and exercise. well i know i lost some inches of my waist, i was 32 now im 29( but i will not give credit to the diet pills)

Im never ever again taking any of those stupid diet pill, that is just a waste of time and money.

this time i will do it with the help of CC and all the members here, i know i can do it, i know what works

My heaviest weight was 230 lbs. which was 2 years ago. My knees hurt so bad I could not walk right. I was prescribed Phentermine by my doctor and with monthly follow up's I have lost almost 70 lbs. There is no way I could have started going to the gym without taking the phentermine first and losing 10 lbs right up front. That 10lbs made me motivated and got me to the gym to excercise and continue on my journey. If you ae monitored by a physician this is a great drug. It has been around since the 1960's and there has been no proven long term or short term affects with this drug. It worked for me! Good Luck!

Maybe I should also talk to my doctor about diet pills. I mean it worked for you and maybe it could also help me to lose weight. By the way congratulations! :-)

I think it is just very important to find a diet pill which doesn't have bad side effects and to combine it with healthy food. The pill helped to you be motivated and I think it could motivate me too.

Oh and if I might decide to take a diet pill I am going to weight myself every morning. I am sorry for you, sulma. I really hope that you'ill find another possibily how to lose weight! Good luck.

ah man....i broke down and bought hydroxycut max =[ i was so anti diet pill before but iv been eating so much and have been very tired. now im eating less and im very energetic. i split the bottle with a friend considering it was kinda expensive and i guess i could see how well or not well it works. i dont think ill ever go to the highest amount it says. 2 a day is enough for me.

in good news, i hardly ever drank water before but im drinking alot of it so that i dont get dehydrated and feel icky from taking these. also, i really wanna go to the gym now =0

Healthy, long-term, sustainable weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week requires a healthy diet and (hopefully) moderate exercise (even walking.)

  • No pills needed.
  • No fad diets needed.
  • No surgery needed.
  • No fasting, no cleansing, no detoxifying needed.
  • No need to eliminate entire categories of food, either.

In six months, I've lost 82 pounds using the tools and recommendations here at CC.  I logged my calories, I worked on better nutrition, I tried new foods, and I greatly increased my intake of veggies and fiber and whole grains and lean proteins.

It works. And it's long-term sustainable and repeatable.

My motivation? Getting healthier .... it doesn't come from a pill bottle.

If you want natural appetite suppressants, all you need is to:

  • drink more water
  • eat more fiber
  • eat more veggies
  • sprinkle cinnamon on some of your food

i am still trying to be healthy by eating the right foods. i recently became vegetarian and im not saying veg. is better than how others eat...but its better for me just cuz im eating fruit and veggies...and better things than i have ever eaten before.  i KNOW diet pills are not the easy way out. i dont pop them and eat whatever and lounge around thinking its a quick fix. im using them as a booster. im *hoping* that ill continue to not eat like a pig when im done....cuz i know i cant do these forever!

I am glad that most of you guys have already found a good motivator but unfortuantely I haven't :-( And I still believe that diet pills could really help me to be motivated. So 120bydecember, you mentioned that you are also using diet pills as a booster. Which kind of diet pill do you use? Kioslim? And how long have you been thaken those pills?

Is that why the new metabolife doesnt work?? I used to use metabolife 356 with success too. Now I  have tried it here and there and it does nothing but make me have to empty my bladder!!
jennus....sorry it took so long to get back to you. i forgot about this thread lol.

anyways, i tried hydroxycut max. although i really liked it cuz i was awake all day and not tired (when i drink coffee...i get tired an hour later). i felt really energetic...

however, i found that i would "lose" my speech. it happened to my friend too. it was like i was so hyper that my words were coming out faster than my thoughts. it was a lil scary. i was supposed to be taking 6 a day after so many days but i stuck to 2-3 a day because i was afraid of what would happen. last night, i was REALLY exhuasted because i forgot to take them to work with me. so, i took 2...and felt really strange. i couldnt handle doing anything so i lied in my bed and tried to sleep (i know its strange to think i could sleep after taking 2 diet pills but i was able to do it). i kept having dreams i was dying....and everytime my alarm went off.....i felt really disoriented.

i ended up having a beer later on and with me taking some uppers and then a downer (and sleeping)...i think my body was pissed at me. i lied down to close my eyes and i awoke with puke coming out my nose.

so, needless to say...im not taking diet pills anymore. dumb mistake. eat right and work out =/

jennus...  As with all the threads about the diet pill, THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU PERIOD.. There is no magic pill.  Losing weight is an effort and your motivation should be to be healthy.  There are lots of diet pills on the market and there are people who have been successful in losing weight with them, but if you asked them a year later you will probably hear they all gained the weight back again and then some.  You may also hear that they have suffered some health problems and may be able to attribute them to the diet pill and some may not but that does not mean it is not attributable to taking the diet pill.  I knew someone who used  PhenPhen and ended up with both heart and lung problems - major health issues caused that to be banned.  Your looking for a quick fix and there isn't any.  This site has good tools and as with all the other threads you started about the diet pill you are hearing the same thing and the support of those who want to see you succeed in a healthy way.  If you need some other motivation other then being healthy then you need to think about it some more.  I don't mean to be blunt, but you are embarking on a dangerous path and you have a long life ahead of you, it should be a healthy one.  There is lots of support here at CC, use that to your advantage.  Learn how many calories a day you should eat, be very aware of the types of foods you are eating, drink plenty of fluids (water, juices).  Our bodies are not a big mystery,  we need whole grains, water, veggies, protein.  If you need additional help go to a weight watchers type group where you can meet and talk with others that share your challenges.  But most of all, be smart, healthy, and happy.

This is excellent advice.  No more to be said.  Read this and you will have a good plan to follow.

Diet pills do not work long term and can result in serious health issues.  I don't know anything about Kioslim but I am sure it is no better then any of the other diet pills on the market.  There is always some company putting out something, just take a look at the shelf at your local drug store, but none of them are backed by the FDA!!!

Get healthy with a real plan, there is no quick fix.
