hey everyone! i posted about a week ago asking about going up to 2500 calories and i have been doing that consistently since then. the only problem was yesterday at the doctor. they usually don't tell me or let me know my weight, but the nurse told me and i gained over 4 pounds from when i was there last week! (7 days!) i know this should be a good thing, but i can't help but feel very out of control. it's also getting really hard to keep up this amount. yesterday i struggled a bit and only got up to about 2200-2300. i'm assuming that's going to mess my metabolism and other things up more, so i'm trying to stay away from dropping again.

i'm just wondering how you all stay motivated to keep this up  and how long i'm going to continue gaining this much on this amount... i would like to take this weight gain a little slower so that i don't get freaked out and relapse. i am still aiming for 2500 today. i just need a little reassurance that this is what i need to do :)

I know the struggle. A few thoughts but first please go back to the 2500. I know it is scary but the only way for your body to trust you and repair. I am not sure how much of an increase you have done to get to 2500 and how quickly but usually increase can come with your body holding onto water from your metabolism still confused and also things like carbs which are good but still when not used to an amount can have you hold onto extra water. There were times ip I would go up in a day a few pounds to loose it the next. It is averages. Are you weighed every week at the doc? If so maybe tell them not to tell you or at least not weekly. Try to remind yourself and it is scary but the goal is to gain. Really though no one likes to gain super quick it is key to do this sooner then later to prevent other health issues and complications. Are you trying to focus on what in life you want to gain?

Abbi is right. If you've only been on 2,500 for a week, a lot of the "weight" you see is just water and food retention. Since your body has been starved for so long, your system is holding on to every last iota of food that you're giving it now, using it to repair tissues and suck all the nutrients out of it. Your digestive enzymes aren't fully functional yet, either, so the basic process of digestion has slowed down a lot too, also contributing to food weight retention. Stick with it!! You're doing the right thing!
