1) put on some music and dance around the house
2) try a weighted hulahoop - lots of fun - Google it to find one
3) You can do a 20 to 30 minute weight training routine with 10 to 20 pound dumbbells
4) jump rope
5) Bundle up and go for a walk. Go with a friend, your dog if you have one, or enjoy the blessed solitude. Getting outside even if it is cold does wonders for your well being. Sunlight provides vitamin D and UV light helps fight depression. UV light abouds even on a cloudy day. Just 20 to 30 minutes can invigorate you. Then come in, and have a nice hot cup of green tea with honey. The green tea is a mild appetite suppressant (works for me anyway) and the antioxidants are great.
6) Good luck! :)
If you have a playstation, try DDR (Dance dance revolution) or go to the arcades that have it. OMG it is so much fun and a great workout. It's more fun to do with friends :)
I've also put on headphones and run up and down stairs. My dog runs with me and gets so excited she starts barking like crazy. It is a great cardio workout.
As for the kitchen, I try to heat up some water and have a nice hot cup of joe or tea. I'm also chew gum to satisfy my sweet tooth.
I agree with laura42 on going outside for a walk. Set a goal like walking 4 miles a day and stick to it. I joined a challenge here on CC to walk 4 miles a day, and I was very motivated, cause I had about 7 others that were working on the same challenge. We all supported each other and cheered each other on.
Whatever you do make sure you are having fun, and mix it up a bit so you're not doing the same thing everyday.
- don't let yourself accept the excuses. call yourself out when you hear yourself just making excuses. in fact, stop thinking about reasons you can't work out - think about the reasons you can! tell yourself, "Oh, I've got an hour - I can work out!"
- to mix things up, rent new types of workout videos from the library - free & no long term commitment to owning a video that you'll memorize & get bored with. or rent vintage ones & smile at the old workout fashions as you work out! i've got bellydancing workout videos now - too fun!
- know that exercising more will give you more energy, so when you think, "I'm tired," your next thought should be, "I need to get more exercise more so I have more energy."
- just do it. i sometimes sit for an hour wondering if i should work out & talking myself out of it... consider how much happier you'll be when you've done it and just stop thinking about it & DO IT :-)
-exercise before school perhaps so you get it out of the way. take a run for 20 mins, or w/e you can do.
-Or, do plyometrics (up and down your stairs, jog in place, jumping jacks, situps) and time yourself to make sure you do it for a bit so it counts.
-can you walk home from school?
-join a sport- it forces you to practice everyday
-do you do anything worthwhile during PE class (do you even take PE)?
-do situps while watching TV.
