Motivation quotes, fun facts???

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys!  I'm having a hard week staying on track...  meaning lots of mindless snacking while I'm avoiding my homework... oops!  Anyway, a friend of mine gave me an idea.  I'm going to post notecards all over my cupboards and in the fridge.  These will have quotes or "fun" facts on them in the hopes that I will realize what I'm doing and stop.  Some that I've already come up with are: "A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips", 3500 cal = 1 pound! and "This one step - choosing a goal and sticking to it - changes everything " - Scott Reed.

So I was wondering...  Anyone else have a great quote or fun fact that keeps them out of the munchies?  What about quotes that inspire you to get up and go?  Let's hear them :)  Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this will help, but when I get cravings, I usually tell myself to wait "just ten minutes". Ten minutes later, I take a moment to ask myself if I'm glad I didn't eat that snack. The answer is always yes and I'm motivated to not end up eating it =D I guess you could put "Just ten minutes!" on the notecard or something, lol =P

I also always tell myself "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels". But that's kind of negative... =/

Anyways, good luck! ;D

i know it is supposed to be negative but it actually helps me:)

"Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym."

"Tomorrow doesn't care what today's food tasted like."

"The resolve to diet is most easily summoned on a full stomach."

"I'm not telling you it is going to be easy - I'm telling you it's going to be worth it."

"Victory is served to those who are willing to pay its price."

i dont have alot of sentences but i have some advices , if you likt to read them .

my proplem is that my parents bring food to home that i shouldn't eat , infact no one should be eating, so when they do that i call every body and tell them to eat it , after a few , it would be over before i get the chance to eat ( its evil , i know but they are going to eat it any way Innocent )

the second thing that i heard from few people then tried my seld and actually worked , is foe you to make the food , make diet food for the hole family then when you set down to eat surprisingly you will feel kinda full , and try not to make unhealty food enter your home in the first place , that way when you get hungry or want to have snake only healthy food will be around . this advice may sound funny but it helped me alot , when you set down to eat , think of something disgusting you saw and relate it to the food you are eating , after few bites you wont be able to eat any more ( dont do that with healthy food )

good luck Wink

bonjour - Ha ha!  I love the "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"!!!   It's also a good idea to have a note reminding me that I should wait five or ten minutes to see if I'm hungry...  Thanks!

ankow - Thanks!  I'll be sure to put some of those around!

sam - Thanks for the advice, I purchase all my food so it's not so much that there's junk food in my cupboard it's just that I tend to eat a lot of stuff, even when I'm not hungry... It's my way to avoid that homework or work assignment or cleaning my room, so I go grab a handful of almonds or a cup of grapes or ... you get the point! By themselves these things are really good, but not when they're consumed in large quantities and together.  Good luck with your family!

Well, I think this will be good!  I already went out to the kitchen once and opened my cupboard... what did I find but a reminder that I should not mindlessly eat... Now I am waiting til I'm hungry enough to make a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, thanks guys!

"I'm not telling you it is going to be easy - I'm telling you it's going to be worth it."

---- I reaaaaaaaallly like that one. It sounds like a line from an old movie or something. Like...Casablanca. :P

Just a quick update: I think this just might work!  I ate 1260 calories today (with a target of 1300)... I'm sooo excited!  This is the first day this week I haven't splurged and gotten to something like 1600-1700 cal!  Thanks you guys!

This one I read more in reference to resistance training and exercise than diet, but it's:  Do what you need to do, not what you want to do.

Maybe useful.

congrats! sooner than you know you will be around your target for days, then weeks. of course there will be setbacks, but one DOES get used to eating healthier!

I love this board! Lots of good sayings and tips.

I am not sure who I got this saying from..but It is from someone on here. :) I liked it allot so I posted it on my lookup to remind me.

There is nothing that feels as great than loosing weight.

st_rider- I like that!  Thanks for the suggestion!  I think I'll put that next to my bed and when I would really rather just take a quick nap than spend that 30 minutes jogging it will get me up and going!

ka - Thanks for the encouragement!

Joelle- Love the quote!  Thanks!

Good luck everyone!!!

If you want it, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.

Make THE Effort not an Excuse

Being Fat is Hard.
Losing Weight is Hard.
Maintainace is Hard.

Choose Your Hard.

Only thing I can think of is "Make the hips happy tomorrow."  And I always remind myself that "It took years to get fat, it's going to take some time to get slim"

My favorite is, "Losing weight is not the hard part. Never finding it again is."

How about "Todat is where your energies belong. Not in crying about yesterday or fearing tomorrowSmile

Laughing This is a awesome forum here, lots of fantastic ideas, thanks for sharing you guys.

One thing that I have done (not sure if its appropriate) is put pictures of myself (bad pictures and shots of my rear and tummy). Each time I go to the fridge I have a look I ask myself, "hmmm should I add more to those pictures or should if I am, not hungry?"
