Motivational Music?
I found an album called 'SkinnySongs' with some catchy songs, but they're a little too corny for me. Some other songs/bands I find motivational are:
Piece of Me by Britney Spears (I'm normally not a fan though...)
any songs by She Wants Revenge
any songs by Snow Patrol
Glass Danse by The Faint
can't think of any more...
Reason: 2/15/08: Stickied. 2/28/08: Unstickied
I listen to Slipknot.
All that racious metal music and sonorious screaming really powers me through workouts.
A few more songs I remembered:
Paralyzer by Finger Eleven
Le Disko by Shiny Toy Guns
The Way I Are by Timbaland
Icky Thump by The White Stripes
Supermassive Black Hole by Muse
Pretty Handsome Awkward by The Used
Cyclone by Baby Bash feat. T-Pain
Slipknot is definitely there, as is Muse. I like some of Linkin Park's older stuff. ..."Forgotten" and "Faint" are pretty good.
If you can get past the swearing, Limp Bizkit's "Break Stuff" is completely rageful. =D
Uhmmm...also some Rise Against.
I TOTALLY agree on the Slipknot lol. When I'm on my gyms elyptical (sp?) machine, I listen to Lamb of God (not a christian band) they use alot of double bass drumming and I keep a great pace. Bleeding Through has an amazing ability to make my adrenaline SURGE. I told my trainer I use mosh pits for extra exercise ![]()
A long time ago I listened to Country music when I was on the elliptical machine... That way I could pretend that I was running away from it if I went fast enough... didn't work though and I wound up getting some of those songs stuck in my head (Which for me was a nightmare cause I really don't like country music at all).
Now I listen to a very eclectic mix of rap, blues, rock, and metal. I have it all on the I-pod and very rarely do I feel the need to skip a song.
I'm old, so you might not like any of the music I like, but here are some of the things that I listen to when working out:
1. For high intensity cardio, I like hard rock (AC DC, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Def Leppard) and 80's hair bands (Great White, RATT, etc.).
2. For weights, I like classical, especially stuff like Ride of the Valkyries, 1812 Overture. (I know...weird)
3. For walking, I like stuff like Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Bryan Adams.
My Ipod has playlists of the top 100 songs of every year since I was born (over 4000 songs and growing), so I have everything from Dean Martin to Snoop Dogg and sometimes, I just set the Ipod to shuffle mode and listen to whatever pops up. It does sometimes throw me off stride though to be listening to Diana Ross and the Supremes and then to suddenly find myself listening to 50 Cent or to go from Led Zepplin to Bread, but I like it all.
I do have to say though, that heavy metal and techno are definitely at the top of my list for motivational music.
My workout buddy (speaking of old-skool) got me listening to themes from Mario (reg. and sup. nintendo) and Sonic (all original Sega Genesis). Try explaining to your college roommate why you're humming Dr. Robotnik's theme over and over again...
I listen to the 80's hair bands as well... I hear them on Sirius satellite radio, then I napster the rest. I have a free subcription to napster for the first six months of my computer.
I like Crystal Method, which is techno, and it makes me bounce in whatever I'm doing. I suppose I'm burning calories faster if I'm on a stationary bike and I'm bouncing at the same time... :)
For weights I like Andrew Lloyd Weber, for eliptical I listen to my old college marching band
I love to listen to a good beat when I am running. Here's my current running list....a little bit of everything from pop to heavier stuff.
Dig by Mudvayne
This is for my people by Missy Elliott
Bombs over Baghdad by Outkast
Click Click Boom by Saliva
Diamonds & Guns by Transplants
Don't stop the music by Rihanna
Footloose by Kenny Loggins
Impacto by Daddy Yankee
Magalenha by Sergio mendes
No Heaven by DJ Champion
Not Ready to Go by The Trews
This Ain't a Scene, it's an Arms Race by Fallout Boy
Low by Flo Rida
Whine up by Kat DeLuna
Enjoy!!
yeah.. random stuff
I usually bring my iPod with a variety from rap to classical. But when doing cardio, I love having more upbeat rock & alternative.
Other good choices for me: Used & AFI.
This is most likely a bad you've never heard of because they aren't very well known, but the name is FROU FROU.
They're music not only inspires me, but the beat encourages me to keep going. My personal favorites are "Let Go" and "Breathe" Hope that helps!
For some reason it is just a killer song.
The way the lyrics are makes it sound like your goal is talking to you.
okay that sounded nuts. haha.
Well, when you have an ED that song may sound like 'ana' I guess. But...male version?

I totally looked up and downloaded a bunch of Girltalks stuff. So far i really like it and am excited to start working out to it. It is perfect for me because I get so bored sometimes and i have yet to find a song that is boring. Hopefully this will help with the cardio! Thanks so much!!
