I have tried all of the usual things, raw carrots/celery/cherry tomatoes, cheese, but my "mouth" is hungry, ny stomach is fine, but how to I loose the urge to chew? I feel like a rodent that has to gnaw.
I have this exact same problem quite often. Normally I chew gum, so that my mouth is doing something. Most of the time it helps, but then there are those stubborn times when I want something crunchy like crackers... and they don't make any gum that tastes like crackers and has that crunch. lol
But try the gum first, and if it's crunch you want, maybe you can try the mini pretzel sticks? I think like a serving of them is 40-50 for 120 or so calories. I know celery is "crunchy" and would be a better option, but being totally honest it doesn't compare or satisfy my urges at all. lol
lol I get like this when I watch tv at night! So I know where you are coming from. Great advice on the pretzils, love those salt sticks!![]()
I do the gum thing.
If I'm CRAVING something crunchy I make popcorn.
Also love air popped popcorn.
But mostly gum solves the problem of keeping my mouth busy - plus the minty aftertaste helps deter the idea of most flavours. Sometimes even brushing my teeth and then downing some water does the trick. Flavour cravings are usually solved in drink form with fruit flavoured herbal teas.
Pickles.
Try brushing your teeth/using mouthwash. Often I've realized that "mouth-hunger" can be caused by a leftover flavor of food in the mouth or a weird taste that makes me want to eat something else. Plus, I find that a fresh-tasting mouth is almost a better feeling than a crunchy, salty snack! Also try drinking a glass of ice water or seltzer water (I like the naturally-flavored, no-calorie polar seltzers), or a cup of tea--not much crunch but your mouth will be doing SOMETHING. Hope this helps.
