what mp3 player do you have?
I am looking at getting one for when I lift and bike outdoors when I hit my first mini-goal. So what brand and model do you have, and would you recomend it?
thanks
thanks
i totally recomend the creative Zen 8gb, its about the same price as a 4gb ipod! and the interface is the same set up (easy to use) it also has a colour screen and holds photos (im still yet to find a use for having my photos on the zen... but its a nice little feature i guess) and the great thing about the Zen that you cant do with ipod is if the battery dies it comes out and can be replaced where as the ipod once the battery is dead its basically dead itself.. so its a great one to look into (plus you can get it in all sorts of colours!)
i was at frys not too long ago and saw (for the first time ever) that they now sell replacement batteries for the ipod..
i have an ipod and i love it.. but i've had an ipod for years and years (yes.. i had a first generation ipod.. but now have a 4g) and i've never had problems with it.. i've never used any other kind so i can't comment on how they work.. :)

i have an ipod too, i love it, it never skips for me and can hold over 2000 songs.
I liked my Pod, but i LOVE my Lyra. I'm old-fashioned, I guess, I like that I can use memory cards to put together my playlists so I don't have to dink around on the computer all the time, plus it's as big as the card I buy for it, but only a couple inches across (round)
Good ole 5th genereation Ipod...
I got one of them fancy schmancy iPod thinamajigs :)
With my own pre-made playlsits, because that's easy to do :)

I don't have one yet but I'm probably getting a Creative Zen brand. I've heard nothing but good things about them from people I know and trust.
hk, i thought buildinglists for my regular iPod was great, but I can't STAND running with anything bigger than the shuffle or nano attached to me. So that let out playlists and big storage capacity at the time I was shopping. And the Lyra was much more affordable.
My BF has the Zen and wouldn't trade it for anythign in the world. It's stood up to heat, cold, rain, sand and combat.

i do love my zen ever so much..
but the one thing about an ipod i have to admit is... they have tons and tons of fun accesories that you can get.. where as the zen is limited (hopefully for the time being)
im not anti ipod in anyway, what tipped the scale when buying my zen was the price difference (granted ipod has an awesome warranty, my zen is pretty comparable to that too) but my 8 gb can hold up too something like 2000 - 3000 songs i havent quite filled it up yet but i do have tons and tons and tons of songs on there
making play lists are a sinch on the zen aswell.. i dont know what its like on an ipod. but it takes me no longer then 5 minutes to make a playlist for the zen
** and if anyone knows where i can get a car charger for a zen i would freak out and love you forever! because im going camping this summer and i dont know how i will survive without it... the battery life is long.. but not 10 days of straight usage long **

I LOVE MY iriver!! My firend and I got ours at the same time... me the iriver and her the ipod. Hers was twice as much. Now hers just quit working... I love my river!! I can change the battery too.. I have rechargeable ones so it isn't an expense thing either... Oh and when I got the car transponder...mine was $50 and hers was over $100. I LOVE MY iriver!!
I agree on the RCA Lyra. Light, good sound (goofy lookin earbuds
though) easy on batteries and upgradable to as big as you want (using
SD cards) Cost me $60 plus $19 for a 1/2 gig SD card good for
several hours.
No playlists though, but because I've got a card reader on the 'puter, drag and drop is about a 30 second job to change the music.

mindnoir - I've been researching the Zen recently. I think this might be what you're looking for. If not, search their site b/c I think you'll find it somewhere on there! :D
*pops back in*
It might be because my body is so.. big.. but I don't find that having the armband with the ipod around me is a huge deal.
The only problem can be the length of the headphone cord. If it's not long enough, eventually *walkwalkwalkstretcharmearphonesslamoutofears anddownneckouch*
Mostly, I was already using iTunes, and I have lots of songs from iTunes, so the iPod makes sense for me :)
But... I've got nothing against any other sort of player. I just know I'm happy with mine :)

hahaha! bhjv, the stooopid earbuds got ditched the moment i got em home (almost a pity, they do good bass, but I can't run with em)
hk, I'm pretty sure it's a body size thing. My iPod is nearly as long as my upper arm, and the shape and weight of it made it sli[p around very uncomfortably.

... ?
How tall are you again, saro?
*is suddenly imagining sarosmurf, 5 apples tall, singing along to her ipod as she runs around the fortress trying to evade azrael and gargamel.*
Yeah, I agree, it's probably a body size thing - the thing is smaller than my mp3 cd player I used to walk with :)

I'm not short, I'm SMALL BONED!
The Lyra made my Pod look HUGE. It's so much more comfy. And I can't stand anything bouncing at all, even my hair, so that's certainly a personal issue.
And after my Pod decided to just quit charging, I really prefer something with real batteries. The only thing that could get me back to the Mac side would be...

(I know you saw it in my log, but IWANNITIWANNIT!)

And yet, you didn't answer my question, SaroSmurf ;) *eg*
And, yes, I can see how that would be appropriate to you :)
K was telling me about podcasts (not fitpod.com) that actually have a bunch of songs, back to back, using the SAME BPM.
Which is something I could see you digging.
If she remembers where this is, I'll post it for those of you who run/jog :)

5'7ish (sometimes I'm 5'6.5, sometimes closer to 5'8)
See? I'm NOT short! and I don't even look like a T-Rex with little arms... I just have bony elbows no matter how fat I get, and the Pod slips down and bangs on em if I hang it outside, and it interferes with my bending-upness if I hang it inside cause it's too long.
that playlist sounds grr-r-r-reat!

i have an iRiver H340 with Rockbox on it
awesome player, but only way to workout with it is on a stationery bike, or treadmill. I'd never run with it
