Mrs. Bob (from Bob's Red Mill)

Quote  |  Reply

Oh I would SO marry Bob.

But seriously, are there are other Bob's Red Mill lovers out there? Granted, a lot of their products are super expensive. But somehow I forget about the price tag when I'm eating my morning bowl of 5 grain rolled cereal.

What are your favourite BRM products?

I <3   Bob's 5 grain hot cereal.   I add about 2 tsp of PB, and 1 tsp of brown sugar...mmmmmmmm.    &nbs p;  But I don't think it's that expensive...I think I pay $2.29 for each 1 lb bag, it makes 12 servings = 19 cents per serving.  That's way less than a box of Kashi per serving.  Some of the other stuff is a little higher though, so I haven't tried anything else.

Oh yes indeed, I have the flax seeds and wheat germ and I put a tbsp of each in my oat meal everyday!  I love it!

I buy so many products from BRM: lentils, flours, flax & poppy seeds, oats, hot cereal, wheat germ. They have everything I need.

I love the 5-grain hot cereal too. My favorite way to have it with canned pumpkin, raisins coconut flakes and PB. <33 best thing when its cold outside, for sure.

Canned pumpkin??

Sounds awesome, I've never heard of that! You should enter the contest they're having right now for the most creative bowl of oatmeal.

I don't do anything funky, but still delicious. I usually go for some kind of fruit/nut butter combo, but raisins make an appearance once in a while too.

Yum!

I lived in Milwaukie, Oregon. Bob's is made their. The big Red Mill is cool to see and they have a little restaurant insie that serves sandwhiches, soup and such.

Wheat bran.  So much fiber, so few calories.  Even better if toasted.  I always blend it into some other cereal to dilute the calories.

I was eating the expensive Mighty Tasty cereal for a while.  When it was gone I went to making a less expensive mix of wheat bran, grits and rolled oats.  When the grits are gone I'll find another mixer cereal.

Bob's gluten free hot cereal!  I don't really get to eat much in terms of "traditional" cereal (celiac disease), but in the winter this is so good!

Oh, I love Bob's Red Mill!  I use their grits/polenta, 5 grain cereal, wheat bran, oatmeal, vital wheat gluten, almond flour, hard red wheatberries, bulgur... probably other stuff, too.

Hm, I just buy steel cut cereal in bulk and mix. Equal ratio of rolled oats, wheat, barley and rye, usually a pound of each - they last me forever and are super yummy, not to mention fun, with the slight differences in shape, size and texture between the 4 grains.

There's a contest?

ily, the rye sounds interesting - I'll track down a bag.  I've got a package of buckwheat groats in the back of the pantry that I'm going to throw in next batch.  The more grains the merrier!

I eat cereal savory, reheating a chunk every morning out of big batches I cook about once a week.  Toasting the dry mix in a pan on the stovetop scorches the mix (mostly the bran, but the other cereal toasts a little bit too) and makes it smoky-flavored.

Love their stuff! Laughing

Esp. the 5 grain... and the Muesli!!! I use it as part of a Fiber One/whole raw almonds/prunes mix I have each day-- good right out of the bag! Tongue out

Just discovered their products. Laughing

I love BRM!  I used to live in Portland, about 20 minutes from the mill and restaurant.  The best part of the store is the bulk section, where you can buy little bits of everything to try them out before you buy a whole bag.  They've also made appearances at the Portland Farmers Market with samples, which was always super exciting for me.  I love that they sell buttermilk powder and powdered eggs.  I use them to make my own mixes for backpacking food.

Woo-hoo for all of you Bob fans! Everytime I buy my little bag of flour, or museli, or hot cereal, or whatever, I know I'm getting good quality, and supporting a responsibly run business.

...that seriously sounded like an infomercial. But it's true!

I'm so jealous of all you Portland-ians who can actually go up and visit the mill. That would be awesome.

 Rebelchick!

Ok now you're actually going to think I'm a BMR fanatic or something (don't judge me), but I'm friends with Bob on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/bobsredmill ?ref=ts, and his 'status' the other day was that there was a contest of who had the most creative bowl of oats, and it said that he was picking a winner on 6/24/09.

I dunno, look into it! And add him on fb, its fun.

I do a lot of baking and add the ground flax seeds to almost everything!  I would buy a lot more from Bob's but Wheat Montana is local for me so they get a good chunk of my grocery money.
