hello,

well ive never eaten muesli before, and i just bought a bag yesterday from whole foods. macadamia nut-cranberry. anyways, i usually eat 1/2 a cup of granola with soymilk so i thought i could do the same with this but the texture is different. am i supposed to cook it? i tried researching it but none seem to give a good explanation.

i don't think you have to. it's kind of like oatmeal; you can cook it if you want, but it isn't necessary.

There are several styles of meusli. Toasted muesli can be eaten as is. This seems to be the most common kind in the US, last time I looked. Bircher muesli should be soaked overnight (in water, milk, or juice as you prefer) to soften it into a sort of porridge. It is popular in Europe.
really, you should soak, ferment or cook your grains to make them digestible.

theres really nothing harder on your GI tract than granola...

traditionally people, like the scots of old, soaked thier porridge in cultured butter milk, whey, at room tempurature. Then cooked it after 12 hours of soaking, this basically pre digested it for them.

at least, pour hot boiling water on the muesli and leave it out over night, not chilled. Come morning, put cold cold yogurt or milk on it to make it cool and easyier to eat.

This info comes from the Weston A Price Foundation and nourishing traditions.
You can either eat muesli as it comes with some milk to moisten, or you can soak it overnight in apple juice or milk if you like it 'Swiss Style'.   It's usually eaten cold.
yeah its usually soaked, like a cold oatmeal.

its probably more paletable that way anyway.

I like my Muesli warm.  I use bob's Red Mill and I cook it with equal parts  water for 2-3 minutes on high in the Micro or, for 5-6 minutes on the stove and eat it like old fashion oatmeal.  With just a splash of cold milk on top and maybe some fruit.

yeah, thanks you guys i soaked it over night in kefir milk and i added some brown sugar to it and it came out Delicious.

thank you for the help Laughing

i love kefir, very very good for ya.
