Muffin Top - 3 simple excersises.

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone. I just wanted to share the video that I came across today. If you are like me, i.e. losing weight in thighs, buttocks, arms and chest (...sigh...) but still have that stubborn belly fat, then adding these 3 excersises might help. I am going to incorporate them into my work-out... But I will add some heavy weights to it.

Say it with me: "there is no exercise that will cause fat loss in a specific area."

i have three simple exercises that will get rid of your muffin top:

  1. eat less
  2. move more
  3. um...eat less again.

that mountain climber one is so tough as first! lol

Did you even check out the video? Looks like you did not. Because that was one of the first things she said in that video. Duh.

Sorry, that last reply was to members who insist on eating less and moving more. Good luck to everyone who is willing to try.

look, you can have the most fabulous abs and obliques on the planet, but if they're covered with two inches of fat, and if your pants are too small, you're going to have muffintops.  no?

that should have been my third step: buy pants that fit.

@ pge..

Haha, you amuze me ) Just watch the video and then post your comments )

Like I said, the first things that are mentioned in the video is eating right and targeting large muscle groups, because, just like you said, you can't lose weight ONLY in certain areas. All that is followed by three excersises (including multi-joint sumo squat excersise - that should not surprise you) that are designed to give that extra help in toning your core.

Seriously. Not everyone here is new to dieting/excersising so there is no need to be condecsending. We all eat less here, since this is a calorie-counting web-site, NO?

check out the video clip 2! I love the squirm!

edit: OP I wish that lady didn't have such bad form on her lunges

The sumo squat (the last one) is really more of an inner thigh exercise and the thrust would make more sense with a barbell.

The speed at which she does these exercises is dizzying. It sets a beginner up for injury if if they were to attempt to recreate this. And her form in the lunge is definitely off.

Lunges, mountain climbers and sumo squats are all good exercises.  I agree with cellophone_star that the squats/thrusts would be more effective with some weight to push.  'Course ksenial said she would add heavy weights to it.

I agree the speed is bothersome, but doing the BWM from NROLFW had me going about that speed for bodyweight squats and lunges.

However, I have enough balance and knee issues doing regular squats to not want to try twisting my torso around when I'm in that position.... maybe that's just me.

Lastly, like pgeorgian says, food, and the right size pants are more important for preventing muffing top.

thanks for sharing this video...for sure this would help!  I totally think you can target muscle groups!

I do 10 minute trainer with Tony Horton and I noticed results by day three.

i agree you can target muscle groups but spot fat reduction is not possible.  i'm with pgeorgian, if you're going to buy trousers that don't fit then anything you have, fat, skin, whatever, is going to stick out over the top of them.  i've seen size 8 girls look bad because they bought size 6 jeans (UK sized).  just buy trousers that fit!
