At 17 you should be in the best of health and, if your diet is varied, healthy and if you eat enough, you shouldn't really need to take a multivitamin.  Vitamins that are excess to requirements pass straight through your body untouched and end up in the toilet bowl... so a big a waste of money.   If your diet is particularly poor or limited or if you've been in poor health recently you could benefit.   If you're unwell, lacking in energy, think you're anaemic or there's some other reason prompting you to take them, talk to your doctor.

Costas: I'm 17, as well, and vegan, so I take a multi-vitamin... just in case. I make a conscious decision to eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetable, and plenty of fortified foods, so I don't need a multi most likely.

Better safe than sorry, however. I would take the multi.

I think that a multivitamin is good to have as a buffer, but not as a requirement. Your best nutrition can be gained from a healthy, varied diet.

As said, all of this is managable from a good balanced diet. Aim for carbs, proteins, fruit or veg, healthy fats and dairy in all your meals and snacks over the day. The first link of that list, MyPyramid, is particularly helpful for this. And do remember, in general, that CC's tools aren't designed for under 21's! Try having a gander at http://www.kidsnutrition.org/ and specifically their calculator Calorie Burn Calculator for Teens. All in all, take a multivitamin as a buffer if you wish, but don't rely on it for nutritents and vitamins. :] Hope this helps~

Thank you all for your advices.....I believe I'm sipmly gonna be taking one everytime i go to the gym....Something more.......Everytime I take a multi it means that I'll be also taking extra kcals??????????Will the extra kcals be written on the packaging????and also if i follow a somewhat healthy lifestyle and i eat healthy which means i'll be getting enough vitamins, will taking a multi have bad impacts on me????

The extra calories will be relatively few, like 5-10 if any.  If you are following a healthy lifestyle and diet, taking a multi according to the package directions is unlikely to have any bad impact on you.

Some vitamins do have some amusing effects though, one multi I tried turned my pee bright yellow (like highlighter pen yellow) because I was just passing the extra of one of the vitamins, that is also used as a food coloring.
