Mushrooms, they get no love

Quote  |  Reply

When people talk about low calorie snacks how come nobody ever brings up raw mushrooms? They are super low cal (455g for 100 cals) they have a great balance of carbs and protein, even a little fibre & fat, yet they never get any love, they are big, bulky and very filling, I eat them all the time!

unfortunately I only think they're good dipped in ranch, or some other kind of veggie dip.
Its the same with all raw veggies

I LOVE mushrooms. Fresh, canned and anyway you can cook them! They are on my list of diet superfoods for sure. I often add a small can of mushrooms or fresh to bowls of soup to add bulk without adding calories.

I have recently just tried mushrooms for the first time, and they were pretty good. I put them on pizza and really enjoyed. Im not sure if I could eat a whole can raw though.

Some people hate the taste of mushrooms. I love mushrooms, though. :D

Mushroom + onion + garlic = LOVE

Unfortunately mushroom is a more expensive vegetable to buy, so I don't eat it as often as others.

mjjrules, do not worry about the mushrooms for they are well loved by me.

I put them in my snack salads daily, add them to my pita sandwiches, cook them with butter spray, or just eat them by the handfuls raw. I heart mushrooms of all kinds in anyway.

i love mushrooms.  not raw, though.

I adore the little suckers.  I'll write a poem later just for you (and for the shrooms)

Mushrooms = yuck

IMO, of course.

Yes - they deserve big props!

When I go to souper salad, I do have salad mixed with half mushrooms. Raw or cooked, I adore them either way.  Calories for raw mushrooms seems impossibly low to be possible.

For someone who likes eating them as much as want to, the only downfall is buying them fresh and cost. I even considered venturing into gardening if it were possible to do indoors with mushrooms as I fear the creatures found in dirt.  Then I learned how theyre grown and what compost is. Will stick to eating them.

Couldn`t agree with mjjrules more! In South Africa they have a range that is apparently "picked at sunrise", so so so yum. They stay fresh for days!

And if you must have them with some sort of dressing they taste good with salsa!

i only like cooked mushrooms.

I love mushrooms...I eat them just about every day...both fresh and canned (low sodium)...raw or cooked...great in salads, pizza, cooked with onions or any other veggies...I refer fresh most of the time but canned works too.

EEEEEWWWWW - the only veggie I will never eat raw- can barely eat it cooked! UGH

If your pocketbook allows, grilled portabella's!  Olive oil, garlic salt, fire.  Hamburger bun w/onion.  I just died and went to heaven.

driftpsycosis:  Canned mushrooms are not raw.

i love mushrooms, but i give them less love because they're too darn expensive!!

I have a really strange relationship with mushrooms - I loved them as a baby, hated them as a kid, and gradually started liking them again.

I've always loved **** mushrooms, though. There's so many different kinds! Oyster mushrooms and enoki mushrooms are so good.

Mushrooms get dogged because a lot of people are disgusted by them.

You do bring up a good point though, mushrooms are definitely added to my grocery list.

i LOVE mushrooms.
cooked or raw, I'll take them :]
my favorite breakfast: 3 egg whites with a cup of mushrooms[sometimes even more!], some green peppers and onion. kept me full for 4 hours or so =0 love it love it!
