Music to exercise to.
I find that I can keep a more steady speed and tempo on my runs when I listen to music. My favorite right now is Jewel 03/04 (you know the one with the dance/pop beats).
Do you all listen to music when you work out and if so what? Maybe we can all find something new to mix up our routines.

I listen to the people that are fit and dressed up in little dresses or hot looking guys, Usher - Yeah, Beyonce - Ring the Alarm, Misteeq, Cheesy 80s pop that I want to get up and bouce around to, except I'm on the cross trainer. :o)
And when I'm struggling to even leave the house - I have the video of Pussycat Dolls - Buttons on my computer, I watch that and really really want to look like that!!

Music and exercise for me are forever linked. And I have a really hard time focusing with other nosies in my ears besides music. Having a good beat when running is really great.
My current favorites...
Billy Idol - Most songs have really good beats that fit with my walking and running
Ok Go - Both of their albums are great and have some really catchy beats which also fit in well with exercise.
Billy Joel - This is actually what i used to hit the treadmill with at home when I was first trying to get into shape and lose some weight. Though it doesn't make sense the beats fit walking/running very nice. Expecially Scenes From An Italian Restaurant. That song just picks me up and gets me moving everytime.
But really beyond the rhythm/beats just being tuned into the music whatever it is helps me focus.

My current favorites are (and they change often)
will smith: gettin jiggy with it
Lenny Kravits: are you going to go my way
No Doubt: Keep on Dancin
Bare Naked Ladies: Chinese Chicken
These were narrowed down because the workout is a bit high beat and out of my gigantic list they are the only ones that really keep it up. :)
I like billy joel. there i said it. In fact he is the only musician I have ever seen in concert. I am 27 and yes I am weird. I agree alot of his music has great beats, but I really like the lyrics.

Goff,
That is an exceptional playlist!! :) I have an all Metallica playlist that I listen to of all my favorite songs of theirs when I work out. It gets my blood pumping and the motivation to do anything in the gym. I'm a rock kind of girl though... haha. So it probably wont work for everyone. :)

Anyone ever find that dance music makes cardio easier and metal makes lifting easier. That is how I have my playlist broken up.
agana: ya thats what i do I also love heavy stuff too like system of a down,KORN,NIN Im a rocker you cant tell by looking at me unless i have a tank on then you can see all my tatts its so funny people look at me all crazy over here cuz mom dont have that...lol...
Nightc1 - I love Ok Go also! Someday if i can ever find 8 treadmills together I would love to learn the dance they do in their video. I wonder how many calories that will burn (haha!)?
Agana - I totally agree with you on dance music for cardio and harder stuff for weights. Even when I feel like I am going to die I can push my run a few minutes longer if there is a good steady dance beat going. My legs just keep going to the beat.

I try to find songs that I can perfectly run to the beat, but as I get in shape I speed up. It seems like as soon as I find a few songs that I can run to, I speed up and have to find new ones. haha Not complaining, but my lists are ever changing.
Cant go wrong with some Bon Jovi. "Bounce" "Its my life" "One Wild Night" "King of the Mountain" "Have a nice day" This list goes on.......
i find exercising to linkinpark helps me ^^
I'm another who favors metal on the weights, techno on the cardio.
Weights: I like NIN, Disturbed, Rage Against the Machine, Propellerheads, etc.
Cardio: PodRunner, FitPod (podcasts) or sometimes just talk podcasts, because I get lost in the discussions and forget that I'm working, and I just keep going, and going, and going...

I listen to ABBA when I walk and dance. I know it's old, but the music, the beats make me happy and more energetic.
