What music gets you going?
I don't know about any body else, but I find it easier to pass the time by listening to music while I'm working out. Instead of watching the minutes (25-30 to be exact) go by on the treadmill countdown, I know that I should be on there for about 8-10 songs (depending on the length of each song, of course). It's more fun that way! And it TOTALLY beats listening to everybody else's heavy breathing around me... lol. Anyway, I'm a country-music kind of girl, and most of the songs on my MP3 player are slower country songs - not exactly motivational when trying to pick up the pace when running or cycling... haha. SO, I thought I'd ask around to see what gets ya'll pumped and ready to break a sweat!

black eyed peas are fun.... fall out boy, panic at the disco and i personally like running to coheed and cambria.... some songs are slow but have fast build ups which makes me go faster! good luck.
Hey, yeah... now that I think about it, black eyed peas would be pretty good work out music! *time to load up on black eyed peas, lol*

A good rap song gets me going.. Like 2step and Pop lock and drop it...Mary J has a few songs that gets me jumping and i do my toning to her old and new songs.. I just burn me good mix c ds.. And that is what i do.. That is how i walk and work out.. It has to be a jumpin tune for me to get my groove on... Missy has a few old jams that i love too...
OMGosh i love love country mostly brad paisley songs like "the world" also Jason aldean" Amarillo sky" mostly the fast paced ones... it is kinda hard to get pumped up with the slow depressing ones lol
I'm with you on that. I have to have music going while I'm working out, and it has to be energetic music. So MOST of the stuff I have on my mp3 player, an RCA Lyra, is eurobeat, metal, eurodance, techo, club, basically any kind of energy packed music.
I'm able to keep track of how long each part of a workout is by going back on the mp3 player and adding up the minutes of all the songs that have played during that certain part.

"Never Again" by Kelly Clarkson
Disco Music from the 70's, New Wave and Industrial from 80s - 90s. Some old school rap.
I do aerobics and rebounding, fast-moving stuff, so it has to have a fast beat.

When I was in high school the only music I listened to while exercising was Aqua's first CD. Even though I've gotten sick of the songs, any time I hear one I have the urge to start moving!
I usually work out at home with the TV on. (I know, studies have shown such work outs are less intense but music doesn't do it for me any more.)

I don't know if anyone here is going to know who this is, but...
Moxy Fruvous, Bargainville. For some reason, I can go through that whole album on the elliptical and not think twice about it.

i totally agree with the MIKA suggestion...a little Freddie Mercury, a little pop-alt...love it :)
Right now for me it's Billy Idol's Greatest Hits and both of the albums by OK GO.
I'm more looking towards the backbeat of the songs than anything and nearly every song on those three albums has a great backbeat that keeps me moving including while i run :)

I love world music. Loreena McKennit, Krishna Das, the Art of Noise, the Buena Vista Social Club, the Gypsy Kings.
I also love country music, but those meditative musics like I listed above, are more peaceful for brain drift during exercise than word-focussed songs, I think.
Yoga is what totally revolutionized my body. Walking didn't make me tone up or lose an ounce, but yoga really toned me and reshaped me and balanced me out healthier (like fixing up my knee problems, instead of increasing them, as happens if I only walk and bike).

I absolutely love the group, Skillet. It's way harder than I usually listen to, but the more intense the music, the more I can get my run on. It's a Christian band, so even though I don't know what they are singing half of the time, I know I'm not filling my brain with garbage I can't understand... There are some slower songs, but I just download the hard, really fast stuff. Just my thoughts...

I listen to a lot of film scores. Action scores are GREAT for working out...another great one is HOOSIERS, a score that's hard to find now (if you want an MP3 or two, let me know). I've been going through all my music and paring it down (I love film music, but there's often a fair amt. of dead air) and created a folder called "Cardio". Whenever I hear something that sounds good for running to, I put a copy of it in there. It's far from complete yet, but if anyone IS interested, I'd be happy to oblige.
