Anybody else out there as into music and exercise as me? I am an iPod nut and always looking for great workout music at workout tempos for walking, treadmill, and spinning, which are all slightly different. I think I walk at about 124 bpm. Got good sources for music downloads?

checkout eriks music!  I really enjoyed it yesterday!  www.funktasia.com

funky clubmix!
Yes, livetorun. I need music to workout to, now.

I like podrunner and fitpod (I think it's fitpod.com and podrunner.com) both done by the same guy.

But, I also make my own mixes of High Energy Rock music I already own. Cause i love rock better than electronica :)
When at the gym, i usually listen to a broad mix.  I've found that upbeat dance really is the best.  so if you're looking for something good and different, try some armin van buuren, dj tiesto, or my BOY Paul Oakenfold.  He's got a new CD out and its brilliant.  Also, try some Gigi D'Agostino...he's very good too.
Thanks! I checked out www.fitpod.com and found they do indeed have free downloadable mixes. I know what you mean about rock v electronic, but I am going to download one of the Podrunner mixes and give a whirl. The 130 bpm one should be just right for pushing me along.
i can run without music, but that means i have to listen to myself breathe... i can't stand that! probably something to do with asthma (which is totally under control!). i also love music for helping crank out the tough miles! i can't imagine not having talking heads' burning down the house, lynnard skynnard's sweet home alabama, the ceasars' jerk it out, and a few others i am too embarrased to admit, on my ipod to help me through "lead legs" and "dead zones"!

what gets you through your tough miles?
i love talking heads and bonnie raitt for running...
sooo jealous.  I really really want an ipod for running!  I was at the Apple store yesterday at the mall.  Dude told me that for running he doesn't recommend the 30 or 60 gig ipods cuz they have an actual spinning hard drive that would not hold up as well under the jarring impact.   Well that shoots down those dreams.   So I guess the biggest baddest Nano out there is a 4GB.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to splurge and make this purchase sooner rather than later cuz I really want to up my enthuziasm for running.  If anyone has some advise about these things, I'm tuned in!

Plus, I'm with Hk.  Anyone have some links for some more aggressive Rock/Metal mixes?  I love the idea that people mix music to BPM for their workouts.  I think this would be great to really keep you going!
I really like Orgy, Zeromancer, Oleander, etc. for working out.  Loud, intense rock.  Or if I'm in a hyper-chipper mood, I listen to Puffy AmiYumi (Anyone here watch Teen Titans?  They sing the theme song).

I need to get some good workout music that's more techno-y.  I've been oggling www.magnatune.com for some.  Soon!  When I reach my mini-goal, I'll buy it.
I MUST have music while working out.. or any aspect of my life really.... But ive found it hard to navigate around my taste of music.. so ive had to create my own lists..

its like exercising for the emo soul. just some of the more upbeat indie style music, with a small mix of some modern hits that i find i enjoy, and help me keep the pace up.

ill make a list on my journal shortly just incase anyones with me in this indie music versus exercising struggle
Nymo, what about a shuffle? :) I know they had, like 512 MB iPod Shuffles. Reasonably priced AND tha'ts just gonna be a memory stick, so jar away :)
Nymo, I'd say wait a bit.  I'm guessing that they'll up the capacity of the iPod Nanos soon enough since flash memory keeps getting cheaper and cheaper.

If you aren't dead set on an iPod, there are tons of flash players out there that aren't as expensive, too.
nah, i'm dead set on an ipod.  I really wanted one that had enough storage capacity to park my car in it  in case I needed a ride home, but the dude said to go with flash memory.

I'm thinking those lil USB Flash drives are smaller than an ipod and I've seen up to 8GB on them.   The next bigger Nano can't be too far away.  Dude told me he doesn't know when the next model will be out and I'll probably hear about it the same day he does.   gee thanks for the help, dude.

I think I'd be happy with 10GB storage space...
I've got a 20G iPod and while a bit expensive it was a great investment. I had so much music on my computer and didn't want to have to burn it all to cds. With my college ID I got a 30% discount too so I saved some cash. I think I ended up spending like $250... not bad. I've had it since september and haven't had any problems with it... Plus it is really great for exercising.

And I like exercising to rock music so I, too, will post a list in my journal of music I think is great to run to.
another fitpod.com fan here... whenever i walk/jog to one of the
podrunner mixes, i feel like the guy in the verizon commercials - i
have my network with me! i like to picture all of the other podrunner
subscribers running along with me. it's not so lonely then.
I"ve found alot of hard rock/classic rock works for me, the more upbeat the tempo the faster I walk. It also seems to help with stress and such.

Some of my favorites include, Meat Loaf, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Aerosmith, etc..
another fitpod.com fan.  They're all steady beat dance music of different paces. New one comes out every week.  I use one for my fast paced elliptical workouts, another for biking, another for stairmaster, another for slower paced elliptical workouts...something about that relentless beat keeps me going!
Oh gawsh, yes!  I have a teeny tiny room with my bed and furniture filling 80 percent of it, my gazelle workout machine filling a good 15%, and just 5% to walk around.  Well, I'm just guessing anyway....  So I turn on my stereo and put in some really upbeat and loud music and start singing to it while I exercise.  I can go forever and ever as long as the music is fast and gives me a good beat to move to!
There's this great song by No Doubt called "You Can Do It." Whenever my energy starts to flag,  I call that track up on my Zen Vision and it gets me going again :)

It's quite motivational, as is "St. Elmo's Fire" but I don't know who sings that.
I have the 2g nano wch holds 500 songs and a strap for my arm. I could not do it without it. I always listen to barenaked ladies when I am walking/running because its great and I know exactly where I should have run and how far by the time the ablums is over. I would not be suprised if they come out with a higher g by the holiday season. The ipod in my opioion is the only way to go.

I usually listen to stuff like against me!, rise against, the offspring. sorta punk.

and there's times i listen to stuff like panic at the disco and coldplay, radiohead.

hey. it works.
