Music to Soothe the Soul
Hymns have a way of bringing scriptures to our remembrance... What's your favorite hymn, and is there a particular line in the song that speaks to you?
Hymn: "Hold to God's Unchanging Hand"
Line: When your journey is completed, if to God you have been true, fair and bright your home in Glory, your enraptured soul will view!
Reason: set as a "sticky" post
hymn:There is a fountain filled with Blood
line:and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty staina
this song makes me cry! I love it sooo much!
O.k. I have another one I absolutely love music!
hymn: Sweet hour of prayer
line:in seasons of distress and grief my soul has often found relief
that is so true how many times have you had a terrible burden but after pouring out too God it feels so much lighter.*SIGH*SMILE* GOD IS SO GOOD!Boy did this open my heart in song! I too love music and singing. There are so many!
Hymn: My Tribute by Andrae Crouch
How can I say thanks for the things You have done for me? Things so undeserved, yet You gave to prove Your love to me ...
Hmmm....I wasn't raised in a church so I don't really know any hymms. The church I go to now has a praise band.
Prior to worship time, we often sing "Breathe"
"This is the air I breathe...Your holy presence living in me.
This is my daily bread...your very words spoken to me.
And I am desperate for You.
And I am lost without You."
It's quite moving when you hear the whole congregation sing it.

Yes - a very powerful song. Our church also sings this, mostly to open praise and worship service.
The song I like is "Days of Elijiah"
Here He comes - Riding on the clouds - Shining like the sun - at the trumpet call. Lift your voice - it's the year of Jubilee and out of Zion's hill salvation comes.
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
There's no God like Jehovah!
(Now I will be singing this song the rest of the day........)
\o/ Praise the Lord - Denna
All I've been doing is thinking of other hymns:
Trust and Obey, Fairest Lord Jesus, & Onward Christian Soldiers where the first ones I ever learned. Other favorites: Amazing Grace! How Sweet the Sound; Cleanse Me (reminds me of I John 1:9); And Can it be that I should gain?; A Mighty Fortress is Our God; Alas! and did my Savior Bleed; All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name; All to Jesus I Surrender; At the Cross; Because He lives; Bless the Lord, O My soul; Christ the Lord is Risen Today; Come to the Water; For Those Tears I Died; Great is Thy Faithfulness
Let's keep the hymns and worship songs coming!
Hymn: What a Friend We have in Jesus
Line: ....."All our sins and griefs to bear...........take it to the Lord in prayer"
I often remember singing this as a child in a church I went to as a teen.
My parents did not raise us in a church due to dad being Catholic and mom Protestant. So, I made my own decision, which is what they wanted for us kids.
I often talk to God while I am driving, which is what I miss about working. That was really our alone time. I knew then that I could pray about anything and take it to Him. Jesus died for our sins and griefs so that we would not have to bear the burden of them, but we have to take them to Him, through prayer. It is amazing what God can do!
I still talk to God, and now that California has wireless devices for phones I don't look quite so stupid! Not that it matters. I talk to God whenever and wherever I want. Just like He is right here with me, my Friend.

Oh, my goodness have the flood gates of my musical soul been opened now! What a wonderful way to open my morning devotions, thinking about all my favorite hymns.
One of my very favorites since I was in childhood Sunday School, "Beautiful Saviour.., Beautiful Saviour, King of creation, Son of God and Son of Man" And, I especially love the Easter hymns, "Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Alleluia!" And, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives.., What comfort this sweet sentence gives."
I directed our children's choir, "Sonshine Choir", for a few years. We sang a song, "White As Snow", when there was a baptism. The words were, "White as snow, white as snow. Though my sins were as scarlet; Lord, I know, Lord, I know. That I'm clean and forgiven. Through the power of Your blood. Through the wonder of Your love. Through faith in You I know that I can be white as snow." Oh, the beauty of those crystal clear young voices singing that song, some mornings I had to fight back tears, they were so beautiful and innocent singing. I loved it!
And, God asks that we all be like little children, I love the song, "I Am Jesus Little Lamb". "I am Jesus' little lamb. Ever glad at heart I am; For my Shepherd gently guides me, Knows my need, and well provides me, Loves me every day the same, Even knows me by my name." We are all His little sheep. Sometimes, that is so hard for me to imagine. That human part of me comes into play and I forget who I belong to. Then, I pray and say, "Thank you, Lord, I am Yours."
Thank you for this wonderful idea! I am going to humming and singing these songs, and all of your songs too, all day long. My cat, Lilly, is going think I flipped, but what does she know. I don't think that she has been saved yet. (Oh, that was a very poor joke..., but, it was kind of funny? You have excuse me, I didn't get much sleep last night, I'm not thinking very clearly.)
God bless everyone today, as we all join in song to our beautiful Saviour.
Let's Just Praise the Lord- William J. Gaither
Let's just lift our hearts to heaven and praise the Lord
With this song you can replace "hearts" with either voices or hands.
This is the day the Lord has made - let us rejoice and be glad! To Him be all glory!
We have so much to be thankful for!
Heaven Came Down and Glory Filled My Soul by John W. Peterson
After I wandered in darkness away ... He met the need of my heart ... He made all the darkness depart
Praise God He made me whole and my sins were washed away!
I don't know why, but I feel that someone needs to be reminded of this classic Hymn. I could not figure out which part to post, so I am posting the whole song. Maybe we all need to be reminded that Jesus is Holding our hand.
Jesus Hold My Hand Words: Albert E. Brumley
As I travel through this pilgrim land
There is a friend who walks with me
Leads me safely through the sinking sand
It is the Christ of Calvary
This would be my prayer dear Lord each day
To help me do the best I can
For I need Thy Light to guide me day and night
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand
Jesus, (Blessed Jesus) hold my hand, (hold my hand)
I need (yes I need) Thee every hour (every hour)
Through (this land) this pilgrim land (pilgrim land)
Protect me by Thy power (saving power)
Hear (hear my plea) my feeble plea (feeble plea)
Dear Lord (yes dear Lord) look down on me (down on me)
When I kneel in prayer I hope to meet You there
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand (hold my hand)
Let me travel in the light divine That I might see the Blessed way
Keep me that I may be holy Thine And sing redemption song someday
I will be a soldier brave and true And ever firmly take a stand
For there’s no other friend on whom I can depend
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand
Jesus, (Blessed Jesus) hold my hand, (hold my hand)
I need (yes I need) Thee every hour (every hour)
Through (this land) this pilgrim land (pilgrim land)
Protect me by Thy power (saving power)
Hear (hear my plea) my feeble plea (feeble plea)
Dear Lord (yes dear Lord) look down on me (down on me)
When I kneel in prayer I hope to meet You there
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand (hold my hand)
When I wander thru the valley dim toward the setting of the sun,
Lead me safely to a land of rest if I a crown of life have won;
I have put my faith in Thee, dear Lord, that I may reach the golden strand,
There's no other Friend on whom I can depend, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

There are some things that only Jesus can help us with. Family and Friends try, but it is only Jesus who can Truly satisfy the need.
FOR THOSE TEARS I DIED
3rd Verse: Jesus I give you my heart and my soul, I know that without God I'd never be whole; Savior You opened all the right doors, And I thank You and praise You from earth's humble shores Take me I'm Yours.
Chorus: And Jesus said, come to the waters, stand by side, I know you are thirsty, you won't be denied. I felt every teardrop when in darkness you cried, and strove to remind you -that for those tears I died
God is so great and he has everything planned for us!
What favorite "Christmas" hymns or non hymn do you enjoy?
One of the first ones I learned as a young child was "O Come, All Ye Faithful" - O come let us adore Him!

Oh Holy Night. Awesome.
In the non-hymn category, Mary Did You Know?
I love Mary Did You Know!!!!
Now that I have children, I can't help but cry when I hear this song. To think of the possiblities that my children have before them. What kind of person are they going to be for God? What kind of impact will they have on the world - to lead the world to Christ? You never know what God has in store for that person that you are holding as a baby.
How awesome! Keep them coming! Hymns or non hymn Christmas songs.
Mary, Did You Know?
Mary did you know, that your baby boy Would one day walk on water? Mary did you know, ... Mary did you know, that your baby boy Will give sight to the blind man? Mary did you know, ...
Spirit of the Living God, Fall afresh on me - melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace, there is love. There is comfort in life's darkest hour, there is light and life, there is help and power in the spirit of the Lord
I feel that I must share a song with the group.
The song is One Touch [Press]. It is from Nicole C. Mullen.
I hope that you can get to the (Link). I hope that it blesses you as it did me.
This a very powerful song. It talks about how we must Press through the crowd to get to HIM. We must Press through our situations, our mental anguish to to get to HIM. Then after our faith touches HIS heart, allow HIM to touch our garment. HE can make you complete.
When I saw this video, this came to my mind. There are a lot of hurting people out there. The hurting people are trying to find something or someone to take away the pain. They are reaching out. The church is the body of Christ. We are His hands and His feet. We need to reach out to the addicted, the hopeless, the shamed, the rejected, the forgottened, the abused.....
the song that really makes me cry is the song "Why" by nichole nordeman...you can listen to it on youtube....its beautiful!!!!
let me know what you think about it after you listen to it...
