Must have protein...

Quote  |  Reply

Dude! I started watching my substance intake percentages 26 days ago. I have been trying to achieve 20% fat, 35% protein, and 45% carbs for 30 straight days. I must say, it is extremely difficult to keep the fat number down and the protein number up at the same time, because meats which contain a lot of protein often contain quite a bit of fat. I eat chicken and turkey like they're going out of style and I take a whey protein supplement, but it is still difficult. I've fell short of the protein percentage a number of times, but never the fat percentage. I keep it low. Does anyone have any suggestions for high protein/low fat foods?

By the way guys, the last 26 days has changed my life. 26 days ago I increased my calorie count from 1800/day to a max of 2500/day and started watching the percentages. I have lost nearly 10 pounds, and my abs are starting to show! I haven't seen my abs in 10 years! Just a little over 16 months ago, I weighed over 240, and today I weigh approx. 188. I am going to stay on this diet for 30 more days and see what happens. I'll let you know.

 P.S.

I used to binge at least once and most of the time twice per week. I haven't binged in 26 days.

Fat free cottage cheese is great source of protein.. and obviously has no fat. Also, try grilled shrimp. They are high in protein and the fats provided are essential fats, good fats, necessary for heart health. Another suggestion would be Ricotta and other fat free cheeses, skim milk, and almonds ( unsalted ) as they have a very comparitive protein to carb ratio and contain little fats. Plus the fats they contain are unsaturated and EFA's.

I feel your pain. Try egg whites - an omelet with Pam, mushrooms and onions usually does the trick for my percentages. Hope this helps, and keep it up!
beans! beans have almost no fat and tons of protein. i love black beans in a burrito or bean burgers. also chick peas are great on salads! good luck!
have you ever tried texturized protein? it sounds gross, it tastes amazing. i know you can get it in grocery stores in new york in flavors like thai chicken.

it is around 300 calories a serving for 50 grams of protein!
