I have really let myself down.
I have really let myself down. I am so mad with myself. I was doing really well, but then I went to the hypnotist who helped me stop smoking and because I stopped smoking so succesfully, I kind of took it as a given that I would lose the weight, so, I got complacent. I started eating whatever I wanted and I started drinking alcohol again. I just weighed myself tonight and I am actually 1lb HEAVIER than my original start weight. ![]()
Totally my own fault but I need a real push now. By June I need to see a massive improvement. I try to get to the gym 3 times each week but the next 2 weeks will be difficult as I have no one to have my little boy so I can go.
I have an ab swinger so I intend to use that.
This is my plan. Can anyone tell me if they think it will give me a fairly speedy result?
Each day:
1.5 litres water
Breakfast: Special K or muesli
Lunch: Tuna salad with seeds and low cal dressing or low fat homemade soup
Dinner: Around 700 cals tops
Snacks: fruit or low cal fruit bar
Gym 3 times per week, 1 hour per visit, but when not at gym 10 mins per day on ab swinger at home.
NO alcohol.
Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
are you seriously mad over ONE POUND!? please, i gain 1 lb when i drink a glass of water!
1 lb is nothing, it can easily just be a normal daily fluctuation. don't beat yourself up over such non-sense. you messed up a little? that's ok.. we've all done it. forget about it and just get back on track. ![]()
Hi. Sorry, I didn't explain properly. I'm 1lb OVER my original start weight. I was at 211 lb, got down to 204 and I am now at 212 lb.
I just totally dropped the ball after the hypno. I haven't been cal counting, filling in the food log or anything. I can't even fit in to most of my clothes.
Dont be so hard on yourself. Time to buckle down and get back at it! It's never too late to start or even start over again!
:)

I think you're onto something cutting out alcohol. I'd suggest shifting some of your dinner calories to breakfast: cereal is a tiny breakfast and a good breakfast will do nice things to your metabolism.
EDIT: Make sure you're eating enough - that looks like a pretty strict diet.
Is this the diet routine you used before the hypnosis?
I would suggest incorportating walking on days you're not exercising. My parents walk after every dinner and Mom has lost a lot of weight due to it.
But also make sure you are getting enough to eat and stay healthy.
GOOD LUCK!
Thanks everyone for the replies.
I find it really hard to shift the cals from dinner as I have a family and thats their main meal each day and we don't want to all be eating different food if possible.
Tonight for instance I am making fish pie with Cod, Smoked haddock and tiger prawns. I shall make the parsley sauce with skim milk but I am a bit worried about the cals ion mashed potato for the topping.
Also, its the school hols now so my gym useage will be pretty much non happening but I inrtend to get lots of walking and exercise with my little boy, not to mention some serious house cleaning which should also burn some cals.
I think too many people get caught up on the negatives. Focus on the positives you do and try and minimize the negatives until the negatives are almost zero. You messed up, learn from it and move on and get back on track. Within weeks you will be slowly getting back to your original goal and feeling better about yourself, just don't expect it over night and aim to lose 1-2 pounds a week and not more than your body can handle.
Good luck and don't rely on gimmicks like hypnosis.
Hi. Had no internet access so haven't been able to log my food until now, but instead of the fish pie I made a Tuscan style bean stew with some roasted cod and haddock. I picked up some low cal olive oil spray and some great seeds with dried fruit. The seeds and fruit mixed with some low cal natural yoghurt made a great dessert last night and a fab breakfast this morning.
No alcohol and plenty of water yesterday couple with better food choices and I have already dropped 2lb of water weight.
I feel really motivated and back on track!
Thanks for all the advice offered.![]()
nicotine gum helps you stop being hungry and it helps you to stop smoking it worked for me,
good luck
Everyone has slip ups. The people who win this race are not the ones who never slip up, they are the ones that learn to get right back on track. The hypnotism didn't work, but you know what does! Check your calorie goal on the CC, what you describe seems like too little calories for a person with your stats. Don't look for speedy results, look for a sensible plan that you can follow long term. That's what's going to get you to your goal, not any lose weight fast sceme. 98% of folks who lose weight quickly gain it back just as quickly. A good healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week. And honestly, 1-2 lbs a week rocks. Think of how quickly the time seems to go by. In one short year, a person can lose 52-104 pounds, and stay healthy while doing it. With sensible weight loss, you could be at goal before a year has gone by.
Two years ago, I weighed 230 lbs. I did great for a year, and got down to 175. Then my life got a little crazy, and I got a little stupid! A year of not paying attention got me back up to 205. I've been back on track for 7 weeks, and my scale tells me this morning that I'm at 189. If I can do this, so can you!
Thanks everyone.
plaidpooka you have done really well. You must be so pleased.
I still seem to be struggling with getting my cals UP!
I had natural yoghurt with seeds and dried fruit for breakfast.
For lunch I had 2 turkey ham, salad and mayo sandwiches (Not buying turkey ham again. Its yuck!) with a packet of worcester sauce french fries crisps.
I've planned BBQ for dinner with salmon fillet, stir fry veg and noodles.
I'll still only be at 900cals!
What would be a good evening snack that would up the cals please?
I really don't advice having the same thing or variation of the same things every day. That's how you get off track, because you get bored with your diet. Have some diet staples (mine is fresh coleslaw (with no dressing, just the cabbage mix) which I eat by itself of mix with soup, sandwiches, etc), but really put some variety in there.
I'd also say that perhaps, one yogurt or one bowl of cereal is not enough for a breakfast. Try spreading your calories more evenly through the day - it'll keep you from starving and then eating a lot in the evening because you're famished. Saving up your calories for the end of the day sounds nice in theory, but then you're starving and lacking energy to exercise, or just walk, or just be more active.
I suggest switching mayo, which is really high in calories, for avocado, which is just all around better. The taste is really not that different.
