What do I do with myself WHILE gaining? (weirdish q!)

Quote  |  Reply

Haha okay, so I need to put on some pounds. Right now my hair is really thin, I'm pale, my clothes aren't fitting, my skin is dry, etc. So here's my question- durring the gaining process what do you guys wear that makes you appear the most healthy?

What kind've hairstyle will cover up the thin-ness until I have nice shiney pantene hair again? What about clothes? I've already grown pretty much out of my teeny clothes, but my others are just way too baggy! It looks rediculass!!... I'm trying for 2 pounds a week.

Any oppinions? Thanks a tonnn!! :-)

(can't wait to be beautiful again. :-) )

awww *hugs* I know exactly what you're going through!  My hair is a bit of a straggly mess atm also (and it didn't help that it was thin before my ED!)

I suggest just going to the hairdressers and asking for something that will give your hair volume - maybe a short, face framing style, possibly with one bang for a side fringe, but it's hard to say when I don't know what you look like!  I'm ususally wearing my kids size 11 jeans (grrrrr I hate them so much)!! but for now I can tuck them into uggs and just wear a few layers or top.  this generally looks healthier than sweatpants and one baggy layer.

I agree, despite what anyone says that a **** appearence is one of the best insentives to gain - I miss the days guys would be like damn your legs are hot rather than geez look at your legs!!

I'd keep the baggy clothes for now and wear them a little while. It's better to have ones to grow into than ones you're quickly going to grow out of. As for hair, talk to your hairdresser. I had that issue and after a short discussion about what to do about covering my hairline and they fixed it for me.

I told myself I wouldn't buy new clothes until I was weighty enough to fit them properly. This is one (but not the only one) of my biggest motivators!

throw out the small clothes that you're growing out of...it's liberating and really distances you from the ED. Where clothes that don't have to "fit"...like boyfriend cut pants and wide leg trousers with a tight blouse. this seems to work wonder. Also, a short pixie cut would be cute..or a nice A-line cut with side swept bangs. if that's too high maintenance i would do the side swept bangs and just wear your hair in a low ponytail!! very cute and sleek! let me know what you think!! I have the same issues and I'm getting rid of all of my size 8 girls pants and trading them in for size 1 and 0...the size I used to be before this nightmare happened. I don't want chicken legs..and i don't want an outtie belly button that makes me ashamed to wear a swimsuit. remember, curves, muscle tones, womanly features like breasts and a nice plump rear are a lot more attractive than looking like a 10 year old boy...literally that's what i looked like at my worst. it's terrible!! so, i hope these suggestions really help you =)

the best thing you can do is step away from the mirror and go have fun!  stop worrying so much about how you look; get involved with the world around you.  that's what recovery is really about.  it's not just about gaining weight; it's about broadening your world and having interests outside of your own body.

no what you're looking to hear, i know, but really, fixing your hair won't fix your life any more than getting skinny did.  you know?

So agree with you pgeorgian, that's what i'm definitely learning through recovery, to find interests and enjoy everything that life has to offer- from taking pleasure in the sun shining or the scent of flowers to loving just being with friends and not caring so much about my body/weight/appearance/ achieving that it eclipses everything else.
