Name a delicious breakfast
I just had my favorite, delicious breakfast.
2 slices of whole wheat bread, spread with
1 Tablespoon of natural peanut butter, topped with
1/2 large banana slices, and
sprinkled with cinnamon.
Add 1 cup of non-fat milk and you have a delicious, filling breakfast at about 325 calories.
What's yours?
The one I have every morning (and I'm not tired of it yet):
Kashi GoLean truly vanilla hot cereal made with a packet of equal, vanilla almond breeze, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and a couple of tabespoons of canned pumpkin mixed in. Accompanied by a medium banana and a cup of coffee with creamer and brown sugar. (Total about 330 cals.)
My current fave is two slices of toasted homemade wholewheat brown bread topped with houmous and sliced tomato, and a big fat cup of tea. Mmmm.
Porridge + milk + honey! mmm. Sometimes topped with fruit & nuts.
At weekends I make up a breakfast pot to take to work:
tablespoon of honey at the bottom
100g Bio Yoghurt in the middle
tablespoon of oaty cereal + raisins on top
yum!
1 cup spinach
1/2 cup raw broccoli
1 slice kraft fat free cheese
Really good omelette, and weighs in at about 150 calories
I usually just drink a cup of espresso with two packets Splenda and a 1/4 non fat organic milk (20 cals worth). If I'm gonna be busy and unable to get food for a while, I'll have a piece of toast with 1/2 tbls. butter (110 c. toast, 50 c. butter) or a little fresh fruit to go with the espresso.
I lurrrve bran flakes. Weird? Maybe so, but they are yummy :)
Also, if I feel like a treat type of day, I'll have wholemeal toast with marge and honey. If I could only eat honey for the rest of my life, I'd be happy ^__^
two slices of fine rye bread with slices of salami and a cup of coffee. I know should eat something healthier for breakfast but that's the only thing I simply cannot replace in my menu :|
i switch up every day. today I had grapes, a banana and some ritz crackers with black coffee. I luuuuuuuuuuuuve cheese grits and I found some 100 cal instant pkgs. sometimes I have yogurt with coffee and oatmeal. sometimes I have a turkey sandwich on wheat with cheese and light mmayo and spicy mustard.
what i eat every day is:
quaker fruit and creme oatmeal (130 calories) with 1/4 cup of quaker crunchy corn bran cereal (30 calories) and two teaspoons brown sugar (30 calories total) or sometimes 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder (7 calories)
dannon lite and fit yogurt (60 calories)
two pieces of low-calorie toast (70 calories total); one slice with one tbsp sugar-free jam (10 calories) and the other with one tbsp apple butter (30 calories).
total is like 360-380 calories.
i especially like to put a spoonful of oatmeal and a spoonful of yogurt on the toast, haha.
1 cup spinach, 1 egg yolk, 2 egg whites, scrambled together and served on an english muffin spread with laughing cow garlic and herb cheese.
The whole thing is only about 230 calories. I usually eat it with a banana or other fruit.
My FAVORITE? lol, as in, not the one I usually eat these days?!
Toad-in-a-hole...which is a piece of bread with the middle cut out, fried on a griddle with butter and then you drop an egg into the middle and fry it (flipping it once so the other side's toasted).
There are ways that I make it "better" however. I'll cut the crust off the bread and I'll give the cut out piece of bread (which you fry up as well) to my boyfriend. Sometimes use just the egg white too instead of the whole egg.
Im a little weird and usually just crave a combination
Like the other morning i had two weetbix, with chopped banana, crushed roughly and mixed. Then I put on water to dampen it and a little skim soy milk, microwaved until warm and just bubbly then topped with cottage cheese and raspberries!!
But I LOVE chopping up an apple and microwaving it, add cinnmon, pour in 1/2 c or more of cottage cheese, mix in vanilla and splenda and if i have cals, sultanas. Put that in the fridge overnight and have the next morning cold. So good, esp if you make a small batch and spread some on toast or a crumpet.
I eat the eggbeaters/ spinach/ low-cal cheese omelet pretty often, too.
Also: Non-fat Greek yogurt with raspberries or banana.
I eat 2 eggs hard boiled with 3 slices of ham and 3 slices of american or munster cheese and coffee. About 500 calories but it keeps me satisfied until lunch time so is worth it. I used to eat bread with pb or butter and a tomato or a fruit and 2 hrs later I was always hungry and was munching on something or I would start shacking. Works for me!!!
My favorite thing I actually only have for breakfast once or twice a week but I often have it for dinner:
100 calorie english muffin
2 TBSP crunchy peanut butter
banana
honey (about 1 TBSP)
it adds up to more calories than I usually want to have for breakfast (about 470) as I'm kind of a calorie hoarder - I'm getting better.
What I have nearly every day either for breakfast or lunch (and sometimes both) is a light multigrain english muffin with 1 TBSP of either natural almond butter or natural cashew butter (without any added salt or sugar) and reduced sugar grape jelly (about 220 calories).
Did I mention I'm crazy for nut butters? I luuuuuuuuuuuurve them!
Oooo! Let me play!
I love the idea of pumpkin. I've been using it on almost everything these days, and I find that I can eat less with it, and stay fuller longer (thanks to the fiber).
I enjoy one serving of Kashi GoLean cereal *140 cal* with one serving (1/2 cup) of pumpkin *40 cal* rubbed on top. Then I take one serving of sugar-free maple syrup *20 cal* and pour it over the food in the dish. Half a serving (4oz) of Almond Breeze *30 cal* and my delicious and filling breakfast is ready to be eaten!
All together 230 cals is not bad to be satisfied in the morning!
Quaker Maple and Brown sugar (with reduced sugar) Oatmeal with sliced banana. So good I almost want more.
