Everyone has one!
What is your OCD?
(OCD= Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
My OCD's
-I HAVE to have the television volume at an even number
-When I'm typing somthing on word, if I mispell a word, I have to fix it immedietly, that red line annoys the hell out of me
-I CANNOT eat and while television while theres a commercial on, when it comes on I stop eating to wait for my show to come back on
-You know those little annoying fringey edges on a peice of paper ripped from a book, I can NEVER write on one with those little edges. I have to tear them off first
-I HAVE to go to sleep with the television on.

-And of course, my OCD with the foods I eat! :D

I'm sure I have A LOT more

So, what are your OCDS? :D

I have to check the front door to my house over and over again until I'm satisfied that it is closed and locked. I have to check the stove burners countless times and put my hands on all the burners until I am satisfied that they are all off & the same goes with hair appliances or the iron. I have to check them over and over until my mind is satisfied that they are unplugged and off. I dont know if it is OCD that I have an uncontrolable fear that the floor will buckle and collapse. I cant stay in a hotel unless I can stay on the bottom or first floor for this reason. Whenever I go to sporting events, If my seat is up high in the nose-bleed section, I will have a panic attack thinking about all the weight that is on the bleechers and that they will collapse. I seriously need help with this!!!

I do the same thing with the front door, stove and appliances, though apart from that it's limited to liking things to look even and ordered-for example, two decorative elements have to be at equal distances from a given point and if someone moves my damn candles so they're at different distances from my TV they're getting on my **** list for at least a week.

Oh, and I forgot. I hate when people tear corners or pieces off of a sheet of paper to write a phone number on it or something. Why people walk around with a notebook full of pages that look like someone took a bite into them I will never understand.
All displays/decorations in my house have to "balance".  Meaning, for instance, one side of the counter cannot have a ton of appliances on it, and the other side be bare.  (This might have something to do with being a Libra, to...it's all about the scales, baby!)

When I make my bed, the top sheet must come over the duvet, then be laid TIGHT and FLAT.  Any wrinkles?  Not allowed.  Have to redo.  LOL

All of the cushions on the couch have to be laid according to colour (as well as on my bed!).  Each cushion has a certain placement.  LOL.

I could go on forever....

Hmmm....wonder why my friends call me "Miss OCD"....:oD
I think I realized just how bad my OCD was when building our house!  We bought it in studs so I couldn't change some main layout issues I'd normally have but I can't tell you how many times my builder had to redo something or realign that outlet or that heater vent.  Sometimes it would interfere with code measurements and I'd rearragne the entire layout of the outlets to be symmetrical/line up under windows/ AND match code.  Luckily my builder was awesome and by the end I think he cought my OCD!  Contractors would put some things where they though it should go and my builder would be like "NO!!!  She HAS to have it over here."  But I love my house and there are an even number of doors and they all open the correct direction and everything is measured out to be exactly even!

I also like numbers that are multiples of 25 (400, 425, 450...) and our well depth was measured at 466 and I had them drill down to 475!
I have no OCD's I am a very laid back person (read as LAZY) all you people are freaks!! LOL

Oh my goodness!! I could go on and on!! I have a perfectionists personality so there are a lot of areas that I struggle with!

  • my bathroom has to be clean before I go to bed
  • I have to have my hands moisturized... I'm addicted to lotion!!
  • my utensils in my kitchen have to be in the right place. If I see one out of place I will fix it.
  • I can't stand to have dirt on my kitchen floor (my friends really get a kick out of this)

Oh! I thought of another one! I seperate all my candy in colors and always eat my least favorite first and save the best colors for last.

M&M's: first = brown, ick, yellow, orange

Then I eat however many it takes to have an even number of red/green/blue and eat them in that order until they're gone (red, green, blue, red, green, blue...).

Skittles is yellow, green, orange, and then alternate purple/red!

I also eat the outside crusts of my sandwiches/burgers first and save the middle/best bite for last. I eat my Subway sub backwards because the middle is always the best.

I do the same thing with candy... and with my sandwiches!!!

Oh I forgot several things earlier.

- I ALWAYS have to be able to get out of a room. If I get stuck or locked in a room I start to freak out.

- I also always have to have my cellphone under my pillow when I sleep because if I wake up in the middle of the night and can't check the time (I have bad eyesight so an alarm clock wouldn't work) I can't sleep for the rest of the night.

Did you guys notice that there are OCD ads at the bottom of this page?  LOL!
I don't see any ads is it on CC plus or regular CC?

I have Plus, I don't see any adds

I am using regular CC, and I see them.  Oh well, maybe it's just me.
Yep...it's the 'ads by google'.  These always change based on the subject matter of the posts :)

I have a few...

  1. I have a room in my house that is not allowed to be open because I do not want footprints or cat hair in the room.  This is actually to allow me to be more laid back about the rest of my house.
  2. When eating colored candy, I will separate the colors, and eat each one down until there are exactly the same amount of each color.
  3. I hate having handwritten and typed stuff on the same page (such as forms, applications, etc.)
  4. I round everything to the nearest five (except my weight currently..I'm enjoying watching it decrease!)
  5. When I take out the garbage, i have to have all my garbage cans empty for the rest of the night.  Yes, this means that if do have garbage, I actually walk it out to the dumpster rather than putting it in the garbage can.

I know there's more, but I'll stop there for now...as long as I never end up like the people I saw on Oprah a while ago I'm ok with it. :)

I have a couple

* Everything has to be equal like if one hands cold the other one has to be if one side of my mouth has gum the other side has too.

*Another is say I am eating chicken corn and bread I have to eat like all my bread before I eat my corn and all my corn before I eat my chicken.

*In my bathroom everything has a place and must be put in it before I go to bed and the door has to be close shut also.

*One last big thing is when I read I have to finish on a page that has my favorite number or a chapter  or I can't put the book down and my favorite number is 3 so thats some times hard.
i only have 2:

-i always have to have the tv remote when i'm watching tv

-and my bookshelf has to be in perfect height order

I have several...  Not sure if it is OCD or just being anal about things...  :)

- I too eat colored candies in a specific order.  Sometimes warm to cool colors, sometimes eating to maintain the same number of each color...

- I always eat my least favorite food first during dinner, and eat my favorite food last.  I have to eat everything before moving to the next food.

- My money in my wallet has to be in order of denomination, and the bills have to be oriented the same way.

- The coins in my car's coin holder have to all have to be heads up with the heads oriented in the same direction.

- Every morning, I have the exact same hygiene routine: Shave, shower, deodorant, take vitamin, etc.  If I miss a step or go out of order, I am thrown off the rest of the day.

These are just a handful of many that I have...

Ringnebula, I think it's interesting that you are a math person. I am a scientist with a rather mathematical mind (I almost studied math as an undergrad but decided for physics instead and I have always loved theoretical physics much more than experimental) and although I would not say I technical have OCD, I can be anal about a few things. I used to be much worse, but I do love symmetry, I like when things are balanced, etc...

So, I have a question to you ringnebula. Don't you think it helps you being good at math, or at least the fact that you have those compulsions reflects on your mathematical mind? Do you think you'd be the same math person if you were "messy"? In my case, I am convinced it is just a another manifestation of my more mathematical mind.

Hey lovestonedtim;  get ready to take your meds 'cause look what you typed:

I CANNOT eat and while television while theres a commercial on

When I'm typing somthing on word, if I mispell a word, I have to fix it immedietly

LOL!!!!!!!!!  My ocd thing is, my robogrips have to be put back in the same drawer everytime or I go nuts.  I mean my God, those things are good for well, everything!  :)
