Name this puppy!

OK, we've had the dog in my avatar for almost a week, and she's still not named.  If we don't get something going soon, she's gonna think her name is "puppy".  Our niece (who gave it to us) named her "Dawn," but we don't really like that;  names with a morning tie-in get extra credit, though.  She's small, because she has a heart condition that will probably leave her with a shorter life.  She'll follow you everywhere you go.

So far we like:

Indigo, Midnight, Minnie, Flubbie.

The floor is open for nominations!

Minnie.  It rings the best out of the four in my view. Though I liked the name Indigo it's not as nice rolling off the tongue.
Alba is dawn in Italian.  Alba is a very cute name too and it follows along with how the experts say you should name a dog (two syllables, last one ending in a vowel).
"I wouldn't name my dog after Jessica Alba and I like her." At least that's the repsonse you'd get from me... If I were your friend and you named your dog Alba. Lol
...but it's not naming the dog after Jessica Alba. *sad face*

Aube is Dawn in French

Such a cutie -- do you want to play matchmaker I have a 7 month old min pin and who knows what male dog that mixed with yours would make such cute babies LOL ( see my Ellsworth's pic in my profile)

Do you have any "family" names?  Ellsworth, my puppy, is named after my husband's relative who was the first person reported killed during the Civil War.

How about Aurora according to Thesarus that is the first word they list.  And for short you could call her Aurie.

My boyfriend and I are trying to come up with some names for you.  So far, we've come up with:

Dubh (pronounced Dub)--Scots-Gaelic for black

Mattie--short for "matin" which means morning in French

Iron--it's a black metal

Briquet--as in charcoal briquet (female version would be "Briquette")

That's all we've got for now.  Maybe we'll post more later.

Lol, I'm only teasing. I'd name her Tag because she tags along everywhere you go. My labrador actually loves to play tag and hide n'seek.

I like the name Sunny for the morning sunrise.  Also Breezy, Starla & Ellie, though there's no ties to morning time, I just think they are cute names for a puppy.  :)

Oh yeah, and I also like above poster's suggestion, Aurie!

I was going to suggest Aurora, too, like dbackerfan. But I'd call her Rory for short. Gets at your morning connotation.
My nieces name is Aurora and her mommy calls her Aurie Caborie sometimes. Why? I dunno. It's cute.  I'm sure it will stop as she gets older. I call her Rory. If you're stuck on the morning theme idea... What about Hazel... Like hazelnut coffee. It doesn't have to be something in direct relation to the word. Sometimes you can find cute little clever names off the cuff. Or what about Nosey... once again because she follows you everywhere.

enchanted -- I had a springer spaniel lab mix dog years ago that would play hide and seek for hours with my kids.  She'd come hide her eyes in my hands when she wanted to play.

We had a cat once we called s  h  *  t for brains or SFB for short -- dumbest cat!!  LOL

Shmoo. Mostly because I love Shmoo, but partly because of how fun it would be to call her in at night "heeeeeeere shmooshmooshmooshmooshmoo". Of those names I like Flubbie best.

Edited to add: the sentiment behind Shmoo rocks too -

Anything that delighted people delighted a Shmoo. Fry a Shmoo and it came out chicken. Broil it and it came out steak. Shmoo eyes made terrific suspender buttons. The hide of the Shmoo if cut thin made fine leather and if cut thick made the best lumber. Shmoo whiskers made splendid toothpicks. The Shmoo satisfied all the world's wants. You could never run out of Shmoon (plural of Shmoo) because they multiplied at such an incredible rate. The Shmoo believed that the only way to happiness was to bring happiness to others.

Shmoo. There's my vote.

Shadrack

Definitely Whoofi Goldberg (eh? eh? =P)

No but seriously...I like Midnight a lot, and I had a dog that looked like her named Sandy.

And I just have to say, she's SO cute!

morgan, and you could call her Mo? Because morgan means Morning in German?

Madchen.

Amadeus

Dorothy. Call her Doro.

Cherie. As in friend, in french. I think it's friend. Either that, or love.

friend in french is ami(e) (ah-mee)

Snowball

It's love, mon chéri = my love :)

When I have time I'll try to think of some names (I'm obsessed with picking the perfect names for my pets :P)

well since people are giving names in other languages I'll throw in some Finnish..

musta = black

pikimusta = all-black

pikku = something small (pieni is direct term for small)

koira = dog...maybe kora?

söötti = cute...or how about soot, since she's black?

aamu = morning
