Ugh!! I'm doing so good with my workouts but one thing is really getting in the way! I have had this rash on my neck for almost 2 months now that will not go away! It's happened before and it is my own fault. I have very sensitive skin and I am allergic to certain metals so I can never wear any costume jewelry without acquiring a rash from it afterwards.
Well, I wore a necklace that made the entire back of my neck break out into a raised, itchy red rash. It's nothing to cause alarm because as I said, I know exactly what caused it, and usually it goes away in a week. It did start to go away until I started to work out again.
Every time I workout, it gets worse because I don't want to wear my hair up since I'm completely embaressed about it, so I have to wear my hair down and the sweat at the base of my hairline irritates the rash every single time and then I'm up all night with it itching! It's horrible! I can't take it anymore! I was putting aloe vera from fresh aloe vera leaves on it, but it doesn't seem to help. Any advice on what I can put on this to make it go away!!?? It's really getting in the way of my workouts!

I'd suggest just putting your hair up. Sensitive skin and having a rash is nothing to be ashamed about. No one is going to look at it and think 'MY GOODNESS, IT'S A LEPER!!' On the back of your neck, they are more likely to think, 'man, that must be an annoying metal allergy'.
I mean, it's not an enormous hickey or anything. As someone who cares TO MY BONES what people think I sympathize, but if it's actually hurting you to look out for their opinions, then it's time to push that sentiment aside and do what's good for you.
Benadryl has an anti-itch spray; I've found that to work well on allergy rashes.

may want to go to a dermotologist...ive got horrible excema (or howeve ryou spell it)..so i understand completly..the backs of my legs break out a lot...elbows (but the inside of my arm, where it creases), where my bra rubs, etc etc...just never ends
what you can do is try to put a towel or something to soak up the sweat around your neck when you work out (that way you can put up your hair too :d)...that may help keep it un-irritated until it can heal...

That's exactly what I feel like! A Leper! hahaha Really, I'm thinking people with think I'm a leper and be totally grossed out. It's really nasty looking! I think I need to head to CVS later to find something better than what I've been using!
If it doesn't go away soon, I do plan to go to a dermatologist and I know she/he will just say it's a rash, here's some cream, put it on and wait...but maybe they will have something better to use than an over the counter treatment.
yeah thats what my derm says....but i only go if it getts really bad/infected it..(gross)....maybe some stronger stuff will help or something :d...i would try the benedryl stuff as well
for my rashes i tend to use hydrocortisone cream with zinc (for some reason the zinc really helps) and then take oral benadryl at night if it is really really itchy.
take an antihisthamine like benadryl and pull your hair up and apply a comfrey and caledula salve. You can find this at most health food stores that carry bath/body stuff or at herbal places. Comfrey/Caledula do wonders for almost any skin affliction I make and use them often.
Have you tried like cortaid?
Maybe see your doc for a prescription steroid cream - that should help - and you really, really need to put your hair up!
I have the same problem, but its usually when I change conditioners - if I dont use the cheap ole' suave, I end up with a nasty rash around my hairline and between my shoulder blades!!

I get excema in the same spot actually. I had a derm put me on medicated shampoo (although the rash was at the base of my neck) and a prescription strength cream for a while after a highschool dance in which my hair was lacquered to my head with hairspray. Cleared it right up.
I get a rash on my hands due to an alergic reaction to something I come in contact with. I still haven't found out what it is but it gets pretty bad at times. I have seen a doctor for it and I get a shot of cortisone for it when it really gets out of control. I have found that taking an over the counter, non drowsy, antihistamine daily will keep it at bay mostly. I asked my doctor about taking the antihistamine because it does have a very low dosage of steroids in it and he said it would be ok but don't go over the recomended daily dosage on the bottle.
