I get nauseous during meals

Quote  |  Reply
I don't know if anyone has had this problem but I've noticed it the past couple of months. I'll be eating and be just fine, but like halfway through my meal I get absolutely nauseous and pretty much gag when I put a mouthful in. I'm not full so I don't think it's my body telling me to stop. I usually feel it when I'm eating my salad for lunch, but it has happened with other meals too so I don't think its' just the salad. I don't know what to do because it's keeping me from eating my whole lunch (it's only like 2 cups of salad w/ 3 ounces of chicken breast) and know I need to eat more. I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that I used to be bulimic ( I don't really think so since that was 4 years ago and this only started recently). I'm just at a loss but it's really keeping me from enjoying my meals! Any suggestions?

Not to sound gross or anthing but are you...um...err regular?  My mom had this problem and it turned out that her system ws backed up, and didn't want anything else in it.  Otherwise... perhaps you should consult a physician?

i went through a phase where everytime i went to a restaurant (feeling hungry enough to eat a good-sized meal), i would look at the menu and choose one of my favorite dishes, it would come to the table looking and smelling so wonderful, it would taste perfect... and then about 3 bites in I would feel soooo sick to my stomach, exactly how you described... almost to the point where I needed to leave the restaurant because I could not even stand the smell of food! It was very strange! With me though, it only seemed to happen on occasions when I ate out, not when I made my own meals, or when my mom cooked. It lasted for several months though, and it was very frustrating because every time we would eat out for some special occassion, it was impossible for me to enjoy the meal. And then after a few months the problem was magically gone! It's still a mystery to me, haha! But anyway... I know where you're coming from :-(
Well, you could be pregnant, or it could be a gall bladder problem. I'd get it checked out.
well everything's digesting fine. I absolutely should not be pregnant so let's hope that's not it! I just don't know if it's worth going to the doctors since it's not with every meal. I'm going to try and change what I'm eating at lunch but I don't know what else to eat since salad is such a low cal filling lunch.
Maybe take a vitamin C supplement or a mint before the meal if you suspect it might happen. It helped alot with me at least.
This may sound like a bizarre question, but do you eat fast when this happens. I've found if I eat to fast or swallow too much air when I am eating, my meal will umm return the way it came.

My son has the same issue.

The slower I eat the better I feel.

Just one of many possibilities
I experience the same thing...I have IBS and GERD....now the doc wants to check my gall bladder just to rule out everything else...already did the barium test, the colonoscopy, the endoscopy, you name it.

You def. should go and see a gastrointologist (sp??).  I hope you start feeling better soon!
