nauseous and miserable
due to several different factors (a slight hangover, horrible sinus headache brought on by awful weather, and having to take plan b) i've been feeling absolutely miserable since yesterday morning. i'm so so so nauseous to the point where even thinking about food is enough to make me dry heave. i haven't eaten or drank anything (other than coffee yesterday morning-- badddd idea) since saturday night.
my head is pounding, my stomach is rolling, i'm so dizzy especially when i stand up, i'm so miserable i think i'm dying.
what should i do to make this go away? please help.
Your dehycrated and that explains the headache and dizzyness and prolly the unsettled stomac as well.
It ull be hard to drink lots because you feel ikky so just take a few sips of water to start dont try downing an entire glass
Get better!
For the hangover, my best cure was always a banana. They are an antacid - which aids with the nausea - and will also help rebalance your electrolytes where they may have been thrown off by the booze. Plus they taste awesome and are not too dense that they can make a sluggish body even more so. If you've not eaten since Saturday you need to start getting ahold of low calorie and high density foods. Smear your bananas with some PB, eat palmfuls of nuts and/or dried fruit, add some oil to your food - but keep it relatively plain if you are feeling sick.
Peppermint is also a good cure for a poorly stomach. If you can get ahold of some of the tea and sip it, that should help. Hard boiled peppermints to suck on are helpful too. Keep hydrated with plenty of water as you may be dehydrated from the alcohol.
Last of all, lie down. Relax. Call a doctor. You sound like you're in a bad way and ought to see or speak to one. Take it easy and keep us updated. I hope you feel better.
I would advise having a shower or bath. This will help hydrate you a little. Then start sipping water, or even better ginger ale. Ginger helps settle your stomach. Have One sip, wait a few minutes, then another sip. I would then eat dry crackers like "premiums" (at least that is what they are called in Australia, don't know about else where). Eat even if you think you feel sick, if you do actually throw up, give it an hour and try again.
If you are still actually throwing up after drinking or eating, after the second try, then you probably should call a doctor or something.
Hope you are feeling better soon
I suggest those because they are high calorie but small enough that the OP won't be undereating and getting proper nutrition while unwell. The peppermint and banana also act as remedies - as the ginger does too. Personally, though, I wouldn't be able to stomach the thought of crackers, so to each their own! xD
have you tried soups? Egg drop or chicken noodle help when I have a hang over because of the sodium inbalance.
Miso soup is good too
I know nurses that say you should always take dramamine with Plan B. You might want to get some Pepto (I usually go for the pill or the chewable because the drink seems like it would be gross).
In terms of food, I second the votes for ginger ale, saltines (with peanut butter if you can stomach it), and peppermint tea. Really just eat whatever you can bring yourself to, but stay away from anything acidic.
thanks for all of your suggestions :)
i'm pretty terrible at keeping a fully stocked kitchen, so i don't have most of what you guys suggested, but i did have a piece of dry toast and some egg whites, which are the blandest foods i could find. i also drank about 3 bottles of water. you guys were right, i was really dehydrated and once i started drinking i couldn't stop!
i'm definitely not making it to class today, but i am starting to feel a lot better.
thanks again!
Jane: I love marmite. Not so much crackers.
Argyle: You could've eaten the yolks, too! P: Heheh. Still, glad to hear you feel better. Keep your water up and stick to plainer food until you no longer feel nauseous. And you're welcome!
sounds like me when i get back from a weekend in vegas, heh
oh the dehydration
