does naval piercing hurt?!!!!
I am getting my belly button pierced tomorrow, and i am scared like crazy! I am kinda excited, but still scared. My dad even decided to buy me a bikini for the occasion...the first one since I was 6....i still haven't gotten the nerve to wear it publicaly, although I guess I will have to at my graduation party on Sat...lol...anyway, back to what I was saying, i need some advice from all you piercing veterans....how bad is this gonna hurt????
I didn't find that it hurt much.. and I've had it done 3 times. :)
I have both top and bottom of my navel pierced and the bottom one got stuck on a counter and ripped out about 5 years ago (I don't reccommend that to anyone).. I got that one re-pierced 2 and a half years ago.
I'd describe it as feeling "warm/hot" during the piercing.

am I gonna lie and say it didn't hurt? of course it hurt. But it wasn't too bad. It hurts more when it's healing, as I recall (it's been pierced for almost 10 years now). It hurts more when you're tense, though, so relax and enjoy the ride. The bad times are whe you bump it or chafe it after it's pierced but before ti heals, not the piercing itself!
Is it like when you get your ears pierced? Because with that, I distinctly recall the SOUND being the worst part. Ugh, I hate that sound.
Hmm... Maybe I should get my naval pierced when I reach my goal and get a bikini (my first EVER).

it does. it might take a while to heal - up to more than a year. and, if you dance, sweat, and stretch - it's going to hurt. but, if you can manage the pain, it sure pays off!:) looks sexy! I am glad I did not quit when it was impossible - I could not bent forward and it hurt to sit down. good luck!
Belly button piercing is my reward when I reach my goal. Only 16lbs to go! =)
I got mine done almost 3 years ago. It didn't hurt very much, it felt like a stinging sensation. Not unbearable at all. The healing process was good, no problems at all.
heh. Got mine done right before I went to Poland... the basic tap water at the time was not potable. Got an infection. Went to the doc- "Mam kolczyk, tutai." (I have an earring, here).... "Co? Gdzie?" (what? where?) "Kolczyk. Tutai. (pointing)" Total fiasco. All I needed was penicilling, tho, which I got as soon as I got back to the US. Easy fix, but the doc had NO idea how to deal with it. I think every nurse in teh place came to look. I felt like SUCH a freak... "WHo did this to you?!?" "A professional...."
lol...saroful, that is so funny..I could totally have pictured that happening in ROmania...
LOL @ Saroful.
My dad completely lost it when he saw mine, I was scared he'd come and rip it out. My mom started crying because she thought the piercing would turn me into a prostitute (she's a little over-dramatic). The worst though was when I got my tattoo. I honestly would have gotten yelled at LESS had I gone out and shot someone. My dad was begging me to get it removed, even offered to pay for it.
Well fast forward three years later and I walk around the house in a sports bra with both the bellyring and the tattoo out in plain sight, and they don't even bat an eye.

oh, my dad crapped when he saw the piercing, but my mom thought it was cool. fast forward 5 or 6 more piercings and 2 tattoos (one that matches one my sis has) and they're fine with it.
hahaha Piercings aren't that bad. I mean, they don't feel good but it's not intolerable... and it only lasts a second.
I've had my naval done... not too bad. I also have my tragus, lip and septum... tragus hurt the worst out of all I've had...

ive had my lip, nose, eyebrow twice and i still have my tounge..
but i want to get the web under your upper lip done.. i know it has a high rejection rate.. but im wondering about pain/swelling factor.. im a sweller i know this from alllll the other pericings ive been through. i dont want to look like a weird form of alien, it was bad enough with my lip looking as if i had been punched in the lip for a month straight.

it's a bit painful, but exhilerating. and, yeah, like pretty much
everyone else has said, it's the healing that really sucks. it takes
like 6 months to really heal...especially if you're active and running
and sweating (in the summer heat, etc.). but it's SOOOO worth it.
it looks totally smokin, too. ;)

It's the healing, more than the initial piercing you should worry about.

Naval piercings are the most often infected, and the piercing can also migrate out if the body rejects it. Happened to my friend's husband, he tried twice, the body pushed it out and now he has a little scar.
But what do I know? I've just had my ears and my nose poked.
Saltwater soaks are good.
Have fun with it for me. I will never have a belly worth decorating. :)

Your friend's husband had a belly ring? Weird! Never seen one on a guy before.
Salt water solution is the best...

mindnoir-- a tragus piercing is the little flap towards the inside of the ear... http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/01-ear/A60602/h igh/bmepb281808.jpg
There's an example.

thanks for all the tips...I am not quite as scared now!
ahh yes. thanks alibuch, i just suck and remembering the proper names for all the pericings.
I didn't know that's what it was called, but I've had my tragus pierced. My body regected it, which sucked cause it was pretty damn cute.
I've had my belly done for 7 years now. Mine took over a year to heal completely, and I had a couple of nasty infections. Didn't seem to matter how careful I was with it, either. Because trust me, the thing was about as clean as it could be. Maybe I overcleaned it. :)
