I need some advice on Calorie intake....

Quote  |  Reply

Ok so I have been reading through some of the topics and answers and saw that basically everyone was saying that 1200 was too low of a calorie intake to have unless you are basically just sitting and doing Nothing all day.

For a while now my calorie goal for the day was at 1200 and now after reading that and having not lost any weight for the past 2 weeks I have become really confused, I am 20 years old, female, 196 lbs and 6'0 tall. The CC calorie thing said I should be eating 1600 calories a day to get down to my goal of 175lbs, but I just don't know if that is too much or if I should just go back to 1200 (not that I want to)?!?!

Since reading all of the posts I have moved my Calorie goal for the day up to 1400 but I am just not sure I will loose the weight I want to and it seems rather high compared to my 1200...btw I am not very active I mean I work everyday but I am sitting at a computer and if I am lucky I will take a walk every other day and I try to do other exercises but I haven't lately because I have been sick...

Any advice would be great thanks!!!

try a fitness video at home ie areobics or yoga or maybe walking to work?

At your stats, you surely have to eat more than 1200. If CC said to eat 1600, I'd start with that. It really isn't that much. Getting active will help with losing weight, but you will definitely have to start eating more.

im 20 years old and i was given this website to use to calculate how many calories to eat, since the cc tools are meant for people over 21: http://kidsnutrition.org/bodycomp/bmiz2.html.

I plugged in your stats to that site and it says that if you are inactive you burn around 2200 calories.  If you subtract 500, then that will give you 1600 to eat to lose 1 lb a week.  So I guess that calorie count is right.

That's an interesting website thanks!

I am pretty convinced that I should keep it increased I don't think it's good to be at the minimum unless it was suggested for me.

Thanks!!

I am at 187lbs and 5'10" My count is set at 1400 and i'm losing pretty steadily. I started at about 195-197lbs.
