Hi everyone, I am new here and I am loving this website. I have a quick question. I work out every day and I wanted to know what was the best routine. My workouts consist of walking on the Treadmill at 3.0 for 90 minutes, exercise on the Stability ball using the DVD that came with it, Yoga and Strength training on the Wii Fit plus the Personal Fitness Trainer for the Wii. What is the order that I should I be working out in for maximum results?. I need to lose 40 lbs but I want to lose weight for my birthday in a month, 10lbs would be nice. My calorie intake for the day is between 1200 and 1500. I consider the day I use the Stability ball my rest day since I do not sweat using it and it consists more of stretching than an actual workout except for the abs portion. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading and any answers to come.
The majority of your fat burning is going to come from strength training. I just recently started out at a gym and I paid the extra money for a personal trainer. He said that in order to maximize my fat burning, I should start off with a little bit of cardio to get my heart going, then do my strength training, then wrap up with some more cardio.
Strength training burns way more calories than cardio AND you continue to burn calories (up to 48 hours) at a higher rate, even when you stop.
I am new to this website as well. I have lost 15 pounds in the last 5 months and have 5 more to go. I actually had a dr recommend the South Beach diet plan. I really like it. It helps you focus on healthy carbs and cut out sugars and processed carbs. From a nutrition standpoint, I generally find that I have an "A" on my food analysis while following this. The really cool thing about it is if you can follow the Phase 1 for 2 weeks you do drop some weight quickly. I followed a modified Phase 1 and kept fruit on my diet during that time but still dropped enough weight to keep me motivated.
As for the exercise side, I find that variety helps me a lot. I try to do cardio 5 days a week and strength training 2X per week. I have 2 kids and have found some pretty creative way to get in extra cardio- skating rink, playing hockey with my son, riding bikes with him, etc. I have also been working with a trainer at my gym and she has helped me put together a program I can do away from the gym as well as one at the gym. The one away focuses on using hand weights but also my body as resistance- real pushups, dips on a bench, etc.
You can definitely lose 10 pounds in a month! The most important part is making sure that your nutrition is good so that you can keep your energy up!
