Need advice
Earlier I wrote an e-mail asking a professor about an assignment that I was turning in late, and judging from the response I got back she was in some way offended by it. Here is my response:
Dear Professor,
After rereading the e-mail I sent to you earlier, I realized that the wording might have seemed rude or short. I apologize if it came off that way. My only purpose was to clarify what your expectations were. I hope to show you during the remainder of this course that I do take my class work seriously.
Sincerely,
Is there any way that you could read that negatively or be offended by it in any way? Is there anything you would add or omit?

seems to me that your professor is a total douche. I think what you wrote was just fine. But then again, that is just my tainted opinion.
No, that's not what offended her. That's my attempt to smooth things over.
Ah, that sounds good to me! :)
So what did you send that offended her!! Enquiring minds want to know!

Well, here was the original message. You judge for yourself if it's offensive.
Dear Professor,
I spoke to you after turning in my topic review today about turning in the review for the video module after class, and that document is attached. However, after re-reading the description of the assignment, I'm not sure I understand why it would be counted as a late, since it states that the assignment should be submitted on or before the due date. Was I supposed to have submitted it before today's class? If that's the case, thanks in advance for clarifying this point so I can make sure to turn in assignments at the correct time in the future.

Ugh, after reading it again I realize it definitely wasn't written clearly.
I don't see anything offensive in either communication. My guess is that the professor was, for some reason, defensive about her ambiguous wording of the assignment prompt.
No, she was more likely frustrated by the fact that she had expressly stated when and how the assignment was to be turned in in a reminder she sent out. Her response was very nippy and I don't know how much of that is due to how I expressed myself and how much of that is due to her having to restate herself.
I think your professor needs to get laid and stop being such a prick!
If there was a reminder sent out, well, that changes things a little. I still fail to see why she should jump down your throat, if that's what she did, for trying to clarify her expectations. Whatever, maybe she's just having a bad day.
Neither is rude... Maybe your professor is stressed...
Well, I've gone ahead and sent it out, because either way I think I made a bad first impression (this was the class's first assignment due). I figure it couldn't hurt.
again I rest my case. He needs to get laid! :)
in general, professors don't like things being turned in late. my guess is that her nippy attitude is a result of the tardiness of your paper. and since she had already sent out a reminder, she's likely to be extra pissy.
in my experience, there's not much you can do to redeem yourself for the past. get your next paper in early, and don't stress over it too much.
good luck!
