  • Kind of confused about what I'm doing wrong.  My stats 5'2" - 149 pounds - sedentary lifestyle - eating 1300 calories - very little exercise.  Not losing weight.  What am I doing wrong?

How long since you started your diet?
a month

very little exercise.

your body is basically using what your consuming. and not burning any extra.

therefore your maintaining your weight instead of shedding a few pounds.

so exercise more! and you'll see the results your looking for!

How many calories you eat is only half of the equation.  How many calories are you burning per day?
I don't have any idea how many I'm burning.  Should I be checking that also?
you need to put some effort into burning more.  start doing 15-25minutes of a cardio 5 days a week.

Absolutley, in a nutshell, to lose weight you need to consume fewer calories than you burn, if you don't know how many you burn how can you be sure you are consumig the correct amount?

You don't mention your age at all, or whether you work at a desk job, or work at all? But as a retiree that spent 40 years at a desk, the last 15 being the least active (due to electronic filing etc) I can tell you.  USE IT OR LOSE IT.  I mean your health and independence.

There are good reasons to exercise even if you don't need to lose weight... and they all spell HEALTH.  15 minutes of cardio is only beginning.   Add some  weight burning, toning (resistance bands, exercise ball etc)

I am not losing much either, but I can now walk 3 times as far as I could when I began 3 months ago.  The second benefit is that I don't have to sell my home because I can't climb the stairs now.

Your burn to intake calorie ratio needs to be at least 500 calories a day to lose a pound a week.

I am 42 years old and I am a stay at home mom.

I am having a similar problem.  I am 51 years old and 5'2" tall and weigh 144 lbs.  And small framed.   and am  at a stand still.  Have been reading  alot of good posts on here to try and understand the calorie intake, burn meter and deficit and I just don't get it!!  I know its me....I just keep drawing a blank!!!  Embarassed    I am eating 1200-1400 calories a day and have a fairly sedentary lifestyle although I am finally power walking one hour 4 times a week.   Started about 2 weeks ago.    If anyone can help me understand the meters---calorie---burn and deficit or just figure it out for me I would be so HAPPY!!!!!
