need advice n help! boils :-(

Quote  |  Reply

Right, this is a rather unpleasant topic but for some odd reason I have had a couple of boils under my armit and I'm developing 2 more, the only other time I've ever had a boil was over a year ago when I went skiing and I was losing weight n stressed!

Do you think me losing weight is causing me to develop these things?

Luckily they seem to be going now but they're not the most pleasant of things!

My daughter gets these and she also gets them in her underarm area.  They would be so painful she had a hard time moving her arm.  We thought she was getting them due to her diabetes.  It turns out it was stress, diet and just plain old growing up.  She did go to a dermatologist, got a rx (no sure what it was called) and then a cleanser for the immediate area.  She hasn't had one in 2 years.  Be sure to care for them because they can cause serious infections and leave scarring.

Everyone gets a boil or too at least once in their life... it's not related to weight loss or gain, but getting hot and sweaty exercising might contribute to a blocked pore which can turn into one. They're common in skin fold areas where your skin rubs together, and if you get one and it is too big/painful a doctor can take care of it for you in a few minutes.

I don't know if this is true or not but my mom always used to tell me that getting a boil was toxins and poisons coming out of your system.. since I only get them when I'm losing weight.  But, I've never looked it up. :)

I got one near my whoo haw once... OMG it hurt.

Toxic conditions in your blood can cause boils, as well as bacteria such as Staph. Iron deficiency can cause them as well.

I use Prid Salve when I get them.

When I don't have any on hand, I use a slice of potato or bacon fat and tape it on it overnight. It draws the icky stuff to the top, like the salve.

It could be this:

For your sake I hope it isn't :( But sounds like the warning signs of it.

Mine were stress induced!

If they are staring to improve with local care only, then they are probably just simple blocked pores with normal bacteria.  If you are getting alot of them regularly in the armpits, then seeing a dermatologist about the possibility of Hidradenitis is important.

Large or recurrant boils elsewhere should be seen by a doctor since a new drug resistant form of staph (CA-MRSA) is becoming more common.
