Need all the help I can get now please....

Quote  |  Reply

Hi all. Within the last two years I have lost a total of 235 lbs using no surgery nor diet aids, plans (such as Jenny Craig) or anything but all on my own willpower. It was so hard to do since I gave up chocolate, bread, potatoes, fast foods, pasta, carbs, CHOCOLATE ( that was the hardest), butter and ate nothing after 6 PM.

I spoke with my new doctor the other day and he was amazed at my accomplishment and said that if I could lose about another 80 lbs he would find a reason for me to be able to have an operation to have the operation to have the excess skin removed and insurance paying for it and it not being cosmetic. I do get horrible rashes in the folds of skin though and he said that is enough for insurance to pay.

At this point I need all the support I can get to get through this. My goal point for this is by summer of next year. I was at 248 today. I am 5'7" and large boned so being too thin is not good either so about another 80 lost is good plus the excess skin is also extra weight. I thank you all. Good Luck on your ventures as well.

Good luck, Donna!

Wow, what you have done so far was a major accomplishment that you should be very proud of.  And losing another 80 will benefit your health and help you reach the goal the doctor set for you in order to have the skin removal operation, which of course you will be looking forward to!

I know you can do it, and more importantly, YOU know you can do it.  You were successful before, you will continue to be successful, especially with such beneficial goals to strive for.  Again, wow!!!  Good luck, stay true to yourself and your goals, you can do it!!

First let me say that your weight loss you've accomplished thus far is incredible!! You can lose the other 80lbs.  In the wake of 235 lbs, another 80 is nothing Laughing (believe me, I'm not underestimating the difficulty of losing weight, but you've already accomplished so much)!! You do have an excellent incentive to take the weight off as well.  Surgical procedures such as those are massively expensive so you are very fortunate to have such an offer.

Best of luck, keep your determination and post here any time you need anything.

What an amazing, amazing achievement!  I have lost quite a bit of weigh and I know that the last pounds come off the hardest.  Are you able to exercise at all to increase your metabolism?  If so that would be my suggestion.  Do something like yoga and burn an extra 200 calories a day.  I too have cut out the sweets and carbs so I know the hard work you are doing!  Keep up the great job!  This may sound hokey but I have found that a positive affirmation like I weigh ___ (whatever your target weight is and as you are saying it truly picture in you mind that you look the way you want to after you have had your surgeries.  If you would like you can email me anytime at arusht01@hotmail.com and I would be happy to exchange phone numbers with you so you could have a positive voice other than your own to help you out.

I know you can do it!

Thanks and I will email you this is so important to me.

Wow!! Very impressive story. I think you might even be underestimating the amount of extra skin you have - you may well find that after a 60-lb loss, you are ready for the surgery.

I personally would support granting you the surgery at any moment that you feel able to sustain your weight for life - from your current weight on down. You've more than earned it already!!

The only thing that concerns me is the strictness of your diet - you have lost 10 lbs a month for two years, which is a lot, and probably with that same diet will have your last 80 lbs off within another year. Have you started thinking about maintenance, however? That might be the pitfall I would worry about for you - black (your former eating habits) and white (your current regime, which does sound a bit oppressive) thinking. The trick might be to find the grey zone when you're done losing, which might be able to include a little chocolate every now and then.
