Hi! My name is Sherry. I have been at this seriously since January. I have lost 19.4lbs. I currently weigh 209lbs and I am very short. 5'3"

I need some people to keep in touch with on this site.

I am 41 years old. I have a nine year old son who is the light of my life. I have a significant other and we have been together for 20 years.

Anyone out there want to be or need a buddy?

I'm in.  I've been doing CC since March and have lost 26 lb but that still puts me at 208 at 5'5".  I'm 42 (for about 3 more weeks).  I have 2 boys 12 and 13.

Would like to buddy up for motivation.  I really want to succeed this time.

Do you have a day that you weigh in?  I am trying for Fridays.

Jen

hi sherry,

i'll keep in touch with you..... i am 45 y/o and been at this calorie counting since oct.... joined this site in march.... my start weight was 215..... now i am down to 181..... i am 5 foot even.... have one step son, married, and we are waiting on the arrival of our first grandbaby....  i signed up for the biggest looser challenge on here 11 weeks ago and we have one more week till its done.... we weigh in on tues.  and i so hope someone starts another one cause that keeps me so motivated.....  so i here..... and i will add you as a friend....

good luck and if i can loose my fat i know you can!!

Hi Sherry,

I am 40 with an almost 9 year old and I have a 6 year old.  I have been with my husband 20 years.  I have been on this site for about a year and a half.   I am 5'6" and 143.

I have been to goal several time, maintained for some of the time, and gained back the same 11 or so several times.  I know what works and I enjoy it while I am doing it but at times I get off the path and that's when the weight gain occurs. :(  That is where I am right now.  I would like to take off 10 pounds by the end of the summer.  But summer is my hardest time to diet.  I have consistantly gained for the last three summers and have lost all my weight during the winter months.

Come to our group...it's a fun group of people.  Just type in "New 10-15 pound weight loss group and you will find us.  We have been together since March I think.  It's interesting to see how we all kinda are following the same trends.  It seems we all hit pateaus at the same time, major loses at the same time, and even that TOM at the same time so our weight jumps up for that.

Hi Ladies,

I weighed in today and no loss - still at 208.  Should be challenging this week as we have a graduation party, birthday party and end of school year activity.  My kids finally get out June 27th due to a teacher's strike.  Having them home is going to be another challenge but I'll take it one week at a time.

Jen

Good Morning Ladies.... Thanks for being my friends, I will add all of you and you are welcome to add me. Are you all here this morning? I'm sorry I couldn't reply yesterday but I was at work and it was time to go home. It is so nice to meet all of you. I am a bad girl. I weigh everyday, twice a day. This morning I weighed 209.2 lbs. I will probably ruin it this weekend. I am taking my son out for ice cream tonight, also weekends are my free time to eat what I want "in moderation". Hope you all are online so we can chat.

Hi Sherry,

I used to weigh my self a few times a day but I got so frustrated.  I do an official weigh in once a week but I do keep track  several times during the week just to keep me honest.

When you go out for icecream get a frozen yogurt or an italian ice. Icecream is not a trigger for me so it may be easier said than done to get a yogurt.

My biggest problem is portion control.  I bought a food scale and it really is helping.  I cannot trust in my judgement for any food amount .  I even have my kids weighing out snack foods to get them to know what a portion size is.

Weekends are always challenging.  I don't think I could take off weekends because I would easily fall off the wagon.

Do you have any short term weight loss goals?

Jen

My short term goal is to get under 200lbs. When I do I am going to go out for Taco Bell (I know, my reward shouldn't be food!) I just LOVE Taco Bell. My son and I are going to a custards place. They don't have yogurt, but I think they have a light variety.

What is your exercise program? I walk a mile twice a day at work on my breaks. Yesterday I push mowed our entire lawn (we have 3 lots), it took 2 hrs.

As far as weekends, I do fall off the wagon but I get back on every Monday. That is why my weight loss is so slow. Oh well, I still have lost 20 lbs since January. I guess it is better slow than not at all.

Sherry

Hi!  I'm Pam and I'm 48 yo and 200 lbs at 5'3" feeling like the Goodyear Blimp.  I put on an extra 30 lbs over the last six months because I quit smoking and that allegedly made my metabolism plummet.  I'm really proud of the getting off the smokes but totally ashamed of my body.  I could really use friends to help me stay on track!

Hi Pam, Can I add you as a buddy? I quit smoking July 29,2007. I put on 35lbs. I know what you are going through. It is very hard to quit smoking and lose weight. I still crave smokes every now and then. I ALWAYS crave food!!!LOL My doctor also told me that quitting smoking will make your metabolism get back to normal (slower). I am having a hard time losing weight because I also have hypothryoidism. I also LOVE food. Sherry
Hi Sherry! I would love it if you added me as a buddy and I'd like to make you my first buddy. I really need friends to go through this with because I also really LOVE food...really bad food...and unfortunately I really love beer. I have a great husband who loves me for who I am and didn't stop loving me when I put on the weight. He prefers me as a non-smoker. I do too but sometimes I miss the smokes I have heard that after 6-12 months if you exercise regularly you will get your metabolism back. Don't know if it's true or not. I just know that I hate what I look like and I hate trying on clothes. I recently got a new job (April) and I had to buy my new work clothes at the big girls store. That was a first for me and I don't care to repeat the experience so I need to do something about it. Do you have a schedule to weigh yourself? I thought I'd give it a couple of weeks before I do that to give myself a chance to actually lose some weigh, but some people are saying you should weigh yourself weekly or even daily. What do you do?

Hey I like beer too!! I have limited myself to maybe one per month. Problem is I can't limit myself to one meal per month!!! LOL

I have always shopped in the big girls shop. I have been a size 16 or higher since Kindergarten ! HA

I am totally addicted to the scale. I weigh in the morning and in the evening. So I am not the best one to give you advice on weighing. I can't walk by a scale without stepping on it.

I am starving myself today because I am taking my son for ice cream after work. I hope I make it through the day!!!!!!!!! Boy will that ice cream taste good!!!!!

Hi Sherry,

To answer your question I have not been able to much in the way of exercise since April.  I had a total abdominal hysterectomy April 29 and still have not been cleared for much activity except walking on level and I just started the elliptical and that has been slow because as soon I feel tugging/pulling I have to stop :(  No pain no gain does not work here.

Trying to keep calories at 1400 because I know I can not work off any extras.  Doing pretty well with that but need to keep motivated.

I have a short term goal of being under 200 by my birthday (43) which is July 14.  I am a bit behind because I did not loose anything this week (and bummed).  That is so frustrating as I know I have stayed on track and can no longer blame it on TTOTM.  ha ha

Eat something (salad/carrots) before you take your son out.  Going for icecream on an empty stomach could be ugly.

Jen

Jen,

I'm so sorry to hear about the surgery you had to have. Hopefully in the long run you will feel much better for it. At least you don't have to mess with TTOTM anymore....oh what I wouldn't give.....

I certainly hope you meet your goal before your birthday. Hang in there, at least you didn't gain this week.

I alotted my ice cream in my daily calories so I can only have a small  salad tonight. I guess it will be worth it to spend some quality time with Joey.

I leave work at 4:30pm central time. I won't be able to get back online to you all until Monday morning. Don't fret I'll be back. I need you all support and I love supporting others.

Thanks,

Sherry

dude, I need people to keep me on the right track, too.  I'm all for that.

hi all! hows everyone doing? me its the weekend...... and my hubby and i stay pretty buzy, fishing..... so i will be popping in and out early in the mornings and late at nite.....

oh i wish i could be as strong as all of you  that has quit smoking! i think the main reason i cant wrap my brain around it, is cause a quite a few years ago i quit smoking and i gained alot of weight...... after 10 months of being smoke free, i gain 100 pounds!  so i started smoking again and lost about 80 pounds...... about 5 years ago i had surgery on both feet at the same time, so i was in a wheel chair for about 45 days..... and then couldnt go back to work or do the exerices such as walking, playing volleyball, etc.... so i did alot of sitting...... so here i am 100 pounds over weight again..... i am bound and determined to get it off..... so for...... 32 pounds is gone and 68 more to go.... but i would be happy to loose 50 more....  so for i have built up walking 1 mile a day. and some days that just seems to be to much on my feet.... those poor feet will never be like they use to be! and now that it is garden time i am out there on my hands and knees pulling the weeds and hoeing it using a short handle hoe.

as i mentioned above i joined a challenge on here..... tue is our last weigh in.  and they are going (i think) to start another biggest looser challenge. i so hope they do..... that just seems to keep me motavated, and the people that was on our team, they was so helpful, and rooting each other on.... it really seemed to help me..... i love a challenge, but this weight loss is the biggest, hardest, challege for me! my hubby loves me no matter if i am as big as our house, or at my normal weight.... so this weight loss is for me.

i am like alot of you and others.... i get on the scale every morning rite after my bathroom duties! and when i go to the bathroom all day long, i step on the scale!!  i guess i like to see just how much my weigh goes up and down thoughout the day....  i used to hate to step on the scales!!

i had this dr. (he move on to a different state) but he told me to only eat 1000 calories a day, and pick one day out of the week to eat anything i wanted. and to do this til i was down to 150..... and when i got down to 150. slowly increase my calories by 50 per week til i start maintaing my weight. well i lost 25 pounds doing that and hit that brick wall with no gain, no loss.  well i go back to him for a check up to check my weight and to see how i am doing and i had a different dr. and that dr. told me "just keep losing" come back in a year..... told me to go to a nutritionest if i wanted to find all that stuff out.... so that is when i found this site..... and found out i shouldnt be eating under 1200 cal. per day!

well sorry so long... hope you all have a great weekend!! and if you want to join this challenge i will let you know when they start sign-ups...

good luck all! drink lots of water, and watch calories, and move some.... we can all do this!! Undecided

oh by the way i am star

Hi Sherry,

Congrats on your weight loss and I hope that you continue to feel motivated and get down to your desired weight. I'll request you so we can be comrades.

good morning all, how was your weekend??? mine was great! my hubby and i took off midmorng till late evening to go fishing both days.... didnt catch much, but we had fun...... now its monday, time to get buzy in the garden again. the rain we had last nite made the weeds grow again! lol  and i gots lots to do here in my candle shop to keep me buzy.... and my house too... you all have a great day and i will check in later on.....

my motto:

i think i can i think i can..... i KNOW i can and you can too!!

Hello everyone!!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. My weekend was awesome!!! I went off my diet for the weekend. I know... I'm a bad girl. There is no way I can go to my mom's house after church on Sunday and be on a diet. MMMMMM Home cooking.

My weigh in for this morning is 209.8 . Now it is time to get back to work on the diet.

So far I have eaten one serving of oatmeal and 16oz of coffee and I have had my morning 1 mile walk. How about everyone else?

Hi Sherry!

Glad you had a good week-end!  Mine was quiet which was good for a change.  Friday night hubby wanted pizza and after wrestling with the idea of pizza vs salad, I went with the mushroom/onion pizza and had 2 slices.  No sure of the calorie content, but I guess 700 and since my intake for the day was good, it wasn't too bad.  Saturday I slept late and since it was shopping day, I bought a lot of fruit.  For some reason I'm craving it.  For lunch I had a lean cuisine and water.  Dinner was steak (bad girl I know), corn on the cob and green beans.  I also had some beers.  I found this Beck's Light which is really good and only 64 calories, so I figure I can have it on the week-end if I plan for it.  Sunday lunch was a salad with chicken and no-cal dressing with water and dinner was 2 Bocca Burgers with salad and broccoli.  I was doing good until hubby made these great drinks Sunday night and I had 3 of them!  I need to work on my self-control!  Anyway, I haven't weighed myself yet because I want to have something to show for it so I'm waiting till JUly 4th.  I've read two opinions on this and one recommended daily weigh-ins and the other recommend bi-weekly.  I'm starting July 4th which will be about 2 1/2 weeks since I started and then go from there.  What do you think?

Pam

Oh and I forgot to mention my big news.  I bought a treadmill on Ebay and should get it in about 2 weeks time.  This way I can concentrate on strength training at the gym and do my treadmill at home.  With my new job being farther from home than my old one that will help a lot time wise.  I can't wait to start using it.  It is a gym quality treadmill and it has a build-in tv so I can watch my soaps or something while working out.  That will help with the boredom of just walking/running on the machine.
