need a buddy.
so i have been going to the gym and counting my calories but it just sucks i need someone to talk to and speak to about my cravings and things.. my boyfriend has a really high metabolism he can just eat anything.. and of course he does it infront of me.. i just need someone to lean on.
Feel free to add me as a friend. We're in the same boat. ![]()
hey, i'm in the "trying to lose 21-50lbs" too... not to mention my fiancee is a "runner" who is 5'11", weights 145, and eats bw3/fast food like it's going out of style. ha. i feel your pain. friend me if you like
No worries Autumn, let's just converse here. It's a great idea. ![]()
alright al..so I'm 28 yrs old and I'm overweight. it sucks to say that out loud but it's true. I've been in the Navy for 9 years and for every 3 I've gained 10 lbs. I need help to lose it all again and feel better about myself. All the women in my family have been overweight and even though I know I can do it but it's tough without a "buddy" to be there with me. I really just need dedicated people that will post daily and we can do like a check and balance type thing with each other so we all stay on track. You know what I mean?
Good luck to all of us. It's hard when you are with someone that is not watching their diet, but do what you have to do. I am in a similar situation with my wife.
Support groups are important. I am in.
well, I'm not lucky enough to live with my bf..in fact we're 8000 miles apart but it's tough going to see him and feeling big next to him. He thinks I look amazing but I need to get my weight and metabolism under control. Hope you don't mind posting jiggle because I really need the moral support!!!
Understood. First off, thank you for serving. My plan was to join the Navy OCS after college, however, I failed my physical due to a high school car accident that apparently jacked up my back.
I work with a woman who is a bodybuilder and she has helped me in my quest and it sounds crazy but eating more, small, meals has helped increase my motabolism. Hit proteins hard in the morning, preferably within an hour after waking up, and try to shy away from carbs after lunch. Its pretty cool being encouraged to eat sausage and eggs in the morning. My "workout routine" has been simply 30-40 minutes on a treadmill and a little weight training and I have been fairly slack in that, maybe 3-4 times a week although I have convinced myself that playing golf is great exercise :). I wasn't able to list my starting weight as the date has past on the graph, but January 6, I was 304 lbs and this morning, weighed in at 279. I know, I hear all the time that it is easier for guys, but except for the occassional slip ups, I have been busting it.
We are all in this together and support is huge.
its soo hard to lose weight when pretty much it seems all the "good" food is off limits. i am trying soo hard.. but i keep craving pepsi. i dont do much cardio at all.. its just weight lifting and i dont think its really helping me lose anything. i know i am gaining muscle but i dont see any other change than that. I got a wii fit but its not really all that fun doing it alone ..
I wish we lived in the same city! I wouldn't mind having a workout buddy either. Why don't you drink Pepsi 0? There's a 0-calorie Pepsi product out, isn't there? As far as cardio goes, try this website: http://www.myfit.ca/fitnessprograms/viewall.a sp?contains=free_fitness_programs I've been using its workouts ever since I started (or re-started) CC. You could also try posting a forum entry called "Looking for a workout buddy" in the forum of the area where you live. I'm sure you'd find somebody!
jiggle ~ congrats on your weight loss so far! I've heard that guys have a better time of it and the guy in my office seems to have it easier than I do. He just started working out last week and I think he's down 5 lbs already to my 2 lbs.
smashley ~ I don't have any off limits food, just limit the amount of "good" food that I eat. Not that it's hard being on a Navy ship since they tend to overcook the veggies and undercook the chicken..yuck! I bring my own food when we go underway but I'm running out since we've been gone for almost 2 months now.
Today was my first really good day in the gym, I went twice and managed to row for 35 min after lunch then the treadmill for 45 min after dinner. It was awesome! Tomorrow I'm going to try light weights.
al ~ I wish I lived in the same country!! 5 more months and then I'll be moving back to the states...so excited!!
I'm glad you have something to look forward to Autumn. Don't worry about the guy who lost 5 lbs in one week; I'm sure he'll gain them right back the following week. That's what happened to me on the first week of weight loss. Besides, we all know what losing too quickly leads to (yo-yoing). The food aboard your ship should help your weight loss since you don't like it that much and will likely be eating less of it. But remember to always eat something to curb hunger; stay away from starvation mode. Keep up the good work at the gym. You're doing the right thing by advancing one step at a time.
al ~ i'm glad to have something to look forward to as well. my next duty station will be in the same town my older sister lives in so i'll have a motivatinal buddy in the same town for sure! I use the food log on here to keep track of my calories and it's tougher than I thought it would be.
Do you find it tough to remember all the foods you ate and log them, or to stay under your daily calorie goal?
I have a hard time getting my calorie intake up high enough! The food choices are crap out here and some days I just don't consume enough calories. :o(
That's bad. Stock up on your own food when you'll have a chance. My Dad undercooks chicken too, btw. And steak. And fish. And even pork! I hate pork. Especially if it's undercooked. I think it smells like someone's armpits. And I have a "that pork steak will likely give me those worms I've heard about" phobia.
5 more days of bad food then I can finally try some of these yummy recipes on here. have you tried any of the recipes?
Unfortunately I haven't. Dad does most of the cooking. He has the time since he comes home earlier. I come home at 3:30pm after university. I know a couple of Russian dishes so I make them sometimes. Like two weeks ago I made egg & cabbage and fruit pirozki.
Sometimes it's OK totext in a restaurant.
