Need a buddy... looking to lose 20 pounds

Quote  |  Reply

Hello my name is Ashley, I am 22 years old from PA.  I am currently in college and am graduating next spring.  I would really like to lose 20 pounds before the school year starts back up and I am planning on moving to Arizona for grad school next year so I would love to find someone motivated to lose about 20 pounds as well and who would be willing to keep in touch on a long term basis so we can monitor one another and motivate each other to continue to stay healthy.  I weigh about 165 right now and would like to weight 145.  I am in a wedding in August in Cali and really want to look good.  If you're interested drop a line.  I think weekly weigh-ins are a great motivational factor.

Hey Ladies! I hope you all had a great weekend. So, it is Monday again, time for the weigh-in.

SW: 77kg

CW: 72.5kg (I lost .7kg last week, which is about 1.5lbs. It's coming off, slow, but at least it's moving.)

I must admit that I'm a little bit surprised about this result, but positively. It was my birthday and I went to a big wedding and I didn't really look that much into what I was eating those days. But it seems to be going alright, so yippie:-)

Okay, where is everybody? So far we are missing Ashley and Yady. I hope you two are doing alright and are still working on losing those 20 lbs!?!? If you need anything like some extra motivation let us know, don't give up!

Congrats to you two on losing lbs this week! :-)

Lydia, I am happy for you that you didn't give up, even though the scales didn't seem to move. At least they didn't go up during that time ;-) And thank you very much for your birthday wishes.

I forgot, happy Birthday (belated)

Hi! My name is Stefanie. I an 25 and live in Orlando, Fl. I have been using cc for the past 1.5 months and have lost 12lbs so far. Before I found this site, I had been really trying to lose weight for about 1.5 months on my own with a healthy/moderated diet and exercise and was equally as successful. I am short, 5'3 with a petite build and when I began my "lifestyle change" I weighed 165 and was in between sizes 11/12/13 in pants and L in shirts. I had really gotten out of control the past few years. After high school and a few semesters at college I got a job at a Macaroni Grill (super unhealthy Italian restaurant) here in Orlando and it was all down hill from there. In high school I was a cheerleader but didn't have any other sort of workout regimen so i felt super bored and unhappy in a gym when I tried that a few times. I wore a size 2/3 comfortably and a s, xs in shirts. So, as of today I am at 133 and comfortable in a size 6, small in shirts. My cc goal weight is 113, which is admittedlya little lower then I think I would like to be (maybe 120?). But I will keep working hard and being healthy and I'm sure my body will tell me what is ideal when I get to that point. So, with 33lbs down and 20? to go, could I be a part of your group? Everyone seems really nice and motivated and I really need that. I only have a couple friends who actually eat right and exercise. The rest are all super skinny without putting forth any effort at all. It is sad that, now, I barely hang out with those friends anymore that are unsupportedof my efforts. It is just counterproductive for me. I am really proud of myself for accomplishing this much in just 3 months but it just proves what hard work and discipline can actually do. If I can do it, anyone can. So anyway, Monday weigh ins sound awesome. Good luck to you all, keep up the good work, and I will check back in on Monday, hopefully at 131/132. Laughing

Hello Stefanie! You are very welcome in our group. And wow! You already achieved quite alot for yourself! Keep up the great work! I know how it feels if some people around you aren't very supportive of your weight loss goals, and it really does make a difference if you have people supporting and motivating you. So I hope you can find it here with us!  Wink

Hannah - haha, that's very sweet of you, thanks. I hope you are doing okay? Your post didn't sound like you are doing all that fantastic at the minute...

Hello!!

First of all:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIA

2nd: WELCOME STEPHANIE

3rd: Ashley!!!

Well, I am going to have to cheat our Monday weigh in a little bit because I had a huge project/presentation due today so I had no time yesterday to go and weigh myself.

Today, well, I had the project due and afterwards I realized it was raining (still is) and I go to the machine in a pharmacy to do it, so right now that's out of the question.  Hopefully the rain will go away for an hour, but I definitely have to bring that info this week.

On other news, I am really excited!!  I am done with this semester so I finally get to go back home next week (after a year abroad).

--------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- --

Ok, so I just decided to edit my post instead of adding another reply.

I had such hard time finding a scale, the une I usually use was broken, and the 2nd option was broken as well.  I walked under the rain (I wanted to be outside either way) until I found one that worked.

I managed to maintain my weight, not a gram gained nor lost.

65.2 Kg

I will make up excuses now haha.. since that was not the machine I regularly weigh myself in, it doesn't know me so it gave me the wrong weight .. it hates me!

Or maybe I am retaining water.. since it's raining that's a pretty good excuse haha

Anyways.. whatever the reason, I fit my jeans and that makes my day!

Hi everyone glad to hear form more ppl. I wonder what happen to Ashley.

I just want to say thank you to Julie,And yes your right I'm glad it would not go up but its still a little discouraging when your doing all the right things and the numbers don't prove it.

Welcome Stefanie and WOW! Congrats on you wight loss!

Yady like you said you didn't gain that's always a plus and the scales can be different so maybe you did lose! Wink

Yady - Like I already said before at least you didn't put any weight back on. And scales do vary quite alot, so maybe that did something to it as well. Considering your jeans fit better, I am sure something must have changed, if not the weight than maybe you lost some inches...Where are you from (because you said you are going back home)?

Lydia - I know it can be very discouraging. There are days where I think "How good I ate today, unbelievable!" and the next morning I all the sudden have gained weight. Like this morning :-( Sometimes I just don't understand what is happening...

What do you girls think about adding our measurements to our weigh ins? Maybe every two weeks or so. Cause sometimes if the weight doesn't drop you can tell a difference there.

I think adding measurements is a great idea! It is completely true that while your scale may not show a deficit, your body is adjusting its mass and losing inches. During my weight loss there were a couple times that the scale would be: one day up 1 lb, one day down 1pound, for 1-2 weeks at a time. But, during that time period people that I would see would still comment that I looked thinner even though I weighed the same as when I saw them 2 weeks ago. Doing measurements is a bit tedious and you have to make sure you are measuring the correct area of your body and you must be consistent with those places to keep an accurate record. Luckily, I go to a "boot camp" fitness class 3 mornings a week and they have been periodicly measuring me so I have not worried about doing it myself but it will be simple to go out an get a tape measure-thing. :-)

On a different note: If anyone is a fan of lingerie (if you aren't now, you will be when you lose the 1st 10lbs), Fredrick's of Hollywood is having a huge online sale and I just got a few super cute items for so cheap delivered yesterday. (like $15- $20 for a matching ensemble) I was a little nervous about buying lingerie online without trying it on 1st but it all fits great. I can't wait to wear it for the boyfriend.

Have a great day everyone! I am so excited because my employer chose to be closed starting tomorrow for the 4th of July holiday so today is my Friday and I get a 4 day weekend. Yay! The only downside will be that I have to be careful about what I am eating. Holidays are the worst for healthy eating. Wish me luck.

Stefanie: CONGRATULATIONS! That is so awesome that you have achieved so much! You can be very proud of you! VERY PROUD!

Julia: Thanks for asking. I am ok. I deal with medical stuff (I think I have chronic pain but the Dr. won't listen to me) and so I have been in bed rest since Monday. Good thing (I guess) is that my company is on "Kurzarbeit" so I was not missing work or anything. I was just frustrated. Ate WAY too much, and did not work out!

Yadi and Lydia...I hear the frustration of not losing, but you ladies keep up the good work. I read today that when you stress over it instead of being happy you efforts in weight loss are a lot less effective...

Ashley: WHERE ARE YOU!?!

Thank you Julia and Hannah! It makes me feel so much better to know that this doesn't only happen to me.

Hannah I hope you feel better soon!

I'm going to have a long weekend too. My husband and I are going to WI for the 4th of July to see his sisters. I'am super nervous on how I'm going to do on my eating. Every time I'm around family its like they just want to stuff me with food :(. So i know the feeling Stefanie, Good Luck and good luck to me too!

Thanx so much guys for everything. I'm so glad I found cc.

Everyone have an awesome day!

Ashley let us know how your doing.

Thanks Lydia...I have another Dr. appointment tomorrow, they couldn't get me in before because they were striking haha...nice of them to at least let me know though!

Where in TX are you from? My husband is TX and I always give him a hard time about the terrible Texan eating habits: Steak and potatoes...

I am off tomorrow again and we are going to my Dad's for his summer fest...let's hope I can stick to a well balanced meal!  So good luck over the 4th, and more luck to those whose food will largely depend on other people's choices....

hey! i don't really have a buddy on here but i wanted to say how EXCITED i am about this website! none of my friends really understand, but you guys do. i can't believe its actually working! its slow, but i was 155 and now i am 151 and i knwo it's not much, but i'm so glad i'm doing it right and it's actually happening. i'm so HAPPY! :) feel free to write me a message anybody who wants to celebrate and motivate each other. YAY! :D happy 4th!

Hey girls! I hope everyone had a fun 4th of July & weekend! While I did have fun, I am feeling super guilty because I was not "good" with my eating habits this weekend. I still lost a LB (somehow), the scale is at 132. But I feel like I lost my willpower at the BBQ I attended on the 4th, and I ate a cheeseburger yesterday at yet another BBQ that I was invited to and it just makes me feel like I "failed". :-( I think that next holiday I have to celebrate with food, I will eat before attending any party and just refrain from eating anything except some veggies if they are available. That seems like a better strategy... I hope you all had more success then me in the eating department. I did manage to get in a long bike ride yesterday morning and ate a very healthy lunch and breakfast so things weren't all bad. This is the first time that I really lost focus and I am glad that I am so remorseful about it because maybe it won't happen again. My work week is starting off stressful because our mechanic just quit this morning out of nowhere so that is going to cause countless problems all week long that I am not looking forward to... I can't wait to hear about all your successes throughout the day! :-) Have a great week!

So  its Monday and I'm feeling really bad before I went on vacation I was at 147.6 Last Monday I was at 149.4. And today

SW:152.2

Last weigh in: 149.4

CW:150.6

Mini GW 145

GW:132

My whole diet was destroyed in 3 days. Oh well :(

Hannah I'm from Brownsville Texas its way at the bottom tip of Texas and yup we love our steak (LOL)! :)

Hope everyone had a better week then me.

Don't give up Lydia! The way to get those lbs off the quickest is to be active. Go for a jog or bike ride to burn some extra calories and you will get back down and keep losing. Vacations are hard and put a road block in progress for everyone, just don't lose sight of the big picture and what is really important to you and you will make it there. Smile

Thanx Stefanie I will do my best to not give up and try even harder. And congrats on your 1 LB loss. I guess the hardest part is knowing that Ive been able to lose weight in the past way easier then now and doing the same exact things. But I'll make it there just like you said and all this will just me a memory of all the hard work.
